Some feedback on a regional list

By rookie35, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi guys heading for a regional this weekend, and with little time to train,

i'd like some feedback on the list i'm gonna take, its kinda a Faq-call as i was planning on bringing "that list",instead i'm following my tradition of going a bit janky

here's the list:

Dengar: with expert handling,

k4 droid

title

experimental interface (53 pts)

quin jast with heavy scyk title

harpoons

a score to settle

guidance chips ( 24pts)

N'dru Suhlak with lone wolf

harpoons

guidance chips (23pts)

The reasoning behind it is that Dengar is still a beast, i'e given him a bit of ordnance protection with the expert handling /EI combo because i expect a lot of ordnance, i'm bringin some myself too, hoping that my opponents will have to make the hard choice between R1 shots from mr D and my harpoon chuckers.

What do you guys think?

So firstly: I don't think Harpoons are the best choice on N'Dru. I've seen Cluster Missiles work wonders on him. With Glitter too, you take your lock for action, pop glitter, get LW rerolls, glitter eye to hits, and GC hits, pretty much guaranteeing 2 4-Dice, 4 Hit attacks that first round. Then he's just his usual pesky self.

Now I don't like Quinn, but that's not to say she can't be good. I just would rather take Genesis (VI, your choice of cannon). However, if you want Quinn, I wouldn't choose ASTS. That makes her way too vulnerable. I would like to say expertise, but that's a lot of points. Maybe Deadeye?

Now Dengar. K-4 is, of course, an excellent choice. But is Expert Handling really worth it to ditch some locks? You could use Countermeasures/Scavenger Crane for similar effect and still equip Expertise. Or go Maul/Wired, a very common build these days, still with CM/SC.

yeah my first choice on Dengar was countermeasures/expertise, but pointswise that just doesn't work out, unless i ditch the K4.

thanks for the tip on maul/wired i'll give that one some serious thought,

i chose ASTS on Quinn for that reason exactly, if i can make my opponents biggest gun targeting him, its not shooting at dengar or ndru for at least a turn, also i wanna try out his reload effect.

Ndru has harpoons over clusters because that way he can fire ordnance at range 3, where his ability is likely to kick in, clusters works wonders at R1-2 but that takes him closer to R1 of the opponent, right in Dengar's sandbox, where his ability and lone wolf don't work.

I honestly prefer Expertise on Dengar, which allows for bump + mods, or barrel roll or focus as an action, but I can see the synergy between those cards and it might be efficient and fun. Now I know the appeal for Lone wolf on N'dru, but I think you might be better off if you lower it to VI to get PS9 and upgrade A score to settle to Deadeye, because with PS6 it'll be hard to get a TL, I think with these changes you'll be able to fire your ordnance easier. Although Harpoons dont have that initial 8 dice attack @Greebwahn mentioned I still think its good, as it allows you to fire a 5 dice missile on your first engange, a guy won a store tournament with a Concussion Missile N'dru before harpoons came out, so with harpoons, its probably good, and it is cheaper than clusters as you dont need glitter to make them effective. Just dont forget, even without lone wolf Ndru still rolls an extra die, and with TL+Chips, he has a good chance of putting all five. Seems good, practice, see what's wrong and change it. Good luck
