Is the Squadron Meta Stale?

I'm not going to go out of my way to listen to the beginning (or any part of) of a podcast just to engage.

Bump.

I wish more people would understand this.

Videos and podcasts, and generally talking are 25% or 33% my ideal rate of information intake. By the point you speed up talking to 400% you can't understand it very intelligibly.

To y'all: Make text summaries of your podcasts please. One **** paragraph. No. We will not go and listen to your 45 minute podcast to answer a one line question asked in the forums. No I am not going to go download your podcast, watch your 1 hour video, whatever.

Make a text summary and you WIN: We'll all give you credit. We will talk about your podcast, others will listen to it. You get MORE engagement.

WRITE A DARN SUMMARY. ANSWER THE QUESTION. DONT EXPECT EVERYONE TO WANT TO LISTEN TO YOUR GORGEOUS (ACTUALLY: USUALLY AWFUL NASALLY) VOICE TO ENGAGE IN DISCOURSE.

Again, listen to my proposal right at the beginning of Comms Noise. :)

It's not my podcast, but thanks for the vote of confidence! Comms Noise held a contest for ideas for new upgrade cards, and they were kind enough to say nice things about my proposal. The least I can do is get a few more people to listen to Comms Noise, which has excellent content. I recommend it for listening in the car and other times when you can't read.

The rest of the entries are listening to as well. :)

I do not care who's pod cast it is, I do not listen to pod casts much at all. And just having someone say listen to the pod cast as an answer to a question is worse than not saying anything as far as I am concerned. Just my 2 cents on pod casts.

I would say no as I have a guy here using TIE phantoms (which are extremely effective)

Don't do pod casts, no matter how interesting anyone says they are. Boring.

As for the OP, I'm currently running either Howl plus three TIEs and Marek plus three Defenders, or just Marek plus five Defender. Seem to be doing well either way.

As someone who will read anything armada related, I really dislike podcasts since, well, i dont have the interest in podcasts. With text i can read a bit now a bit there, sneak a bit when i should be working, but not with a podcast

Ok, there are some very good podcasts out there on armada. I just want to say that. But the only medium you should assume anyone wants to engage in on this forum is this forum.

That said, if you want to plug one, the way to do it on a forum is to say what needs to be said and then be like; “and hey, if you want to hear about this some more podcast x also does a grear job delving into it in (link to episode)”

Armada Jim had a podcast (not very active anymore). It was short, and to the point.

Every other one is just some guys chatting amicably around a table, with a small dose of armada on the side.

Pretty much this. There’s not much focus in podcasts.

I dunno I really only listened to Jim and IFF, but jim is sporadic and IFF defunct. BCA (shameless plug) wasnt exactly a podcast but we were very focused.

In any case, there seems to be widespread agreement that the squadon meta is fresh.

I was addressing something of a tangent, which probably wasn't worthwhile anyway.

When @geek19 and I were playing Warmachine, there were lots of podcasts. We eventually tried listening to some. 1-2 hours of farts, nasally voices, mumbling, weird laughing, and in-jokes with some quality Warmachine analysis sprinkled in there seemingly at random. Can't say I was a fan and that seems to be pretty standard for nerd podcasts.

Every now and then someone asks if maybe John and I will do a podcast for Cannot Get Your Ship Out, but I think back with horror on those Warmachine podcasts and assume I'd inflict the same thing on some poor souls and shy away from the idea.

The trick is to limit the hogwash in the first place, then edit it a bit before release.

Half of my articles are hogwash! And the other half are Muppet jokes!

I generally listen to Cannot Get Your Ship Out instead of reading it.

Hour-long drives both ways, so I use @Voice Aloud Reader. I cue up long playlists before leaving.

I like podcasts. I can listen while I'm working and when I'm doing chores at home. That said, some are much better than others. Comms Noise tends to be pretty good, sometimes the editing can be better

Editing. It's an art.

Armada Jim's podcast is a great example - short, to the point, well edited. Not our game, but also have to point to Radio TCX which covers X-Wing. Again: short, to the point, well edited.

There are, let's be brutally honest, very few people who can vamp for an hour and create anything worth listening to. This is also why I can't watch most YouTube Armada battle reports. I really don't want to spend 2.5 hours listening to boring conversations. Cut the audio track and hit the video with a 200% speed increase.

Wait, which one of you does the constant, grating Hamilton references?

They're not grating, they're timely and always hilarious!

Editing is the biggest thing. IFF had someone who could edit. Jim edits well. Irokenics and them with their battle reports edit well.

If IFF had an editor that guy must've been in the brig of the Flesh Star Destroyer (or whatever it's called). Some of those episodes would just drone on and on and on.

I wish there was an Armada equivalent to Nova Squadron Radio.

While there was a little joking around - they really dug into the meta and did a lot of AARs from tournament play.

I will shamelessly plug a new Armada podcast put on by some guys in my local group, The Outer Rim Job.

Lol Outer Rim Job. Ill have to give that a listen just for the name
