Kimogilas and Zuckuss

By Rynar23, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey all,

Seeing the popularity of the gunboats for imperials, and the similarities to the Kimogila with the reload (they don't have slam for re positioning after the first harpoon volley, but I think you can throw LRS on them and slow rolling, along with barrel rolls can allow for multiple shots. As well, I love the idea of the bulls eye arc.

I've been trying to find a third ship to go with the pair, from Fenn Rau, Talonbane and a Starviper. But it I thought I'd throw Zuckuss in the ring. The list is low agility, so it's susceptible to it's own missles, but I think the high PS Kimogilas can dodge well enough to blow up a focused target if the opponent goes for Zuckuss.

Here is the build

Zuckuss (28)
Rage (1)
Inspiring Recruit (1)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Inertial Dampeners (1)
Tractor Beam (1)
Mist Hunter (0)

Total 35

Dalan Oberos (Kimogila) (25)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Contraband Cybernetics (1)
Guidance Chips (0)

Total 31

Torani Kulda (27)
Veteran Instincts (1)

Harpoon Missiles (4)
Contraband Cybernetics (1)
Long-Range Scanners (0)
Enforcer (1)

Total 34

Total Squad: 100

Let me know what you think!

I play this list from time to time, beeming in stuff in to Toranis Bullseye arc.

There are also people using bumpmaster with ionprojector to line up those bullseye.

Zuckus lacks green manovers, so anything that puts stress on him is bad IMO.VI/Dengar/title makes u able to pick an evade, adding to your lifespan.

•Zuckuss (33) - G-1A Starfighter
Veteran Instincts (1), Collision Detector (0), •Dengar (3), •Mist Hunter (0), Tractor Beam (1)

•Torani Kulda (31) - M12-L Kimogila Fighter
Adaptability (0), Harpoon Missiles (4), Guidance Chips (0)

•Fenn Rau (34) - Protectorate Starfighter
Push The Limit (3), Concord Dawn Protector (1), Autothrusters (2)

Yeah that's true, the dengar gives you the same rerolls from rage without the stress. I like the idea of fenn rau, but using harpoons and him wanting to be in range one along with his low hull/no shields makes me hesitant. I think a decked out talonbane would be good as well, maybe a talonbane cloakbra? Using stygium particle accelorator, cloaking device, AT and EU

I'm intrigued. In particular, I like that you are using Zuckuss. Adv. Sensors Rage is very useful, as if you can't afford to pull a green, you can still do another normal move, though that does make him a little weaker. Better than not having a shot though. I wonder if you need the title and the illicit?

I like Twin Kimogilas: both with VI, Harpoons, GC, Unhinged Astromech. Then enforcer on Torani. The high PS helps them leverage their Bullseye: Dalan can better get his Harpoon Shot, and Torani has a better choice between TLing and B-Rolling. That leaves 2 points to fill in some illicit/the title on Zuckuss.

I really like contraband cybernetics on the kimogilas, being able to take a red; especially the k turn when needed then barrel rolling into the bullseye catch a few people off guard and could be the difference between killing a ship and not, especially with the high PS. Dampeners was just thrown on as a situational bump mechanism to hopefully keep a target in place, haven't tested it out yet though. The ability to barrel roll with Zuckuss as well is really nice to get out of arcs as well. I'll be testing the list out later this week and bring back my findings

If you want to try Dalan Oberos in a Killergorilla, try filling his Astromech Slot with R4-B11. That free-lock-on-boresight is very nice since it allows you to fire harpoons, then spend focus/guidance chips to modify the shot, then spend your lock to force your opponent to reroll evades.....and the boresight rule stops them using evade or focus tokens to modify their results.

Forcing an opponent to depend on rolling natural evades twice in a row is a bit mean when there's a spread of harpoon missiles incoming.
