Hey all
Quick clarification, the setup rules tell the rebels to choose a scum figure as an ally and deploy them round 2. Can this be any unique scum figure (including jabbas?) And does the IP get threat as per normal ally rules?

I'm pretty sure the setup instructs the rebels choose specifically a unique mercenary figure, i.e. a mercenary Villain.
QuoteSpecial Setup: Heroes choose a unique mercenary figure other than Jabba the
Hutt as an ally. Set that figure aside. The Imperial player cannot bring
that figure as an open group. Set aside 2 Imperial mission tokens.
In this case the the villain does not get deployed during setup, and the rebels do not fully know how they choice is being used in the mission.
Allies given by special setup do not cost threat. In the same way groups/figures deployed from events never cost threat unless explicitly specified.

You'd think that this would mess with balance, but it was pretty inconsequential in our game.
When we played, the heroes brought along IG-88. He double attacked a Nexu, after receiving some damage from it. Then, the rancor came in behind him and over the course of two attacks across turns managed to pretty easily dispatch of him.
But it does seem silly that the Rebels could choose anything between Greedo and Iggy.
My rebels asked if their choice would have any negative effect on the mission (like if taking a more expensive villain would grant me more threat). I'm not sure if I necessarily had to answer that question since it's essentially asking for hidden information, but I decided not to be a jerk and told them it would have no effect outside of what villain came in for them.

Same here. In our game, the heroes brought Boba Fett along for the ride, which was pretty cool. He was cool for them to have, and laid down some fresh damage on my Imps, but I seem to remember taking him out pretty fast; I think the Rebels used him for a suicide attack that allowed the heroes some time to position themselves and attack from afar... or something like that. Pretty cool mission, actually ![]()
