Recommended Painting Services?

By Ragnell, in Star Wars: Legion

As someone interested in Legion that has neither the time, skill, or interest in painting minis, but still wants to have them painted to tabletop standards, what painting service would you recommend? What would be the best one to choose if I wanted the whole core set painted at a reasonable cost?

Edited by Ragnell

If you want, shoot me an email. I might be convinced to paint up a set for hire. I've painted a few miniatures before... ;)

could also be convinced to help. send me a pm if interested I'll send pics of my ia work

Same here. I just quoted someone today at $6/model of infantry (three colors, all but the most minor of smudges fixed, base is painted, flocked, and has at least one detail). They're going to pay me to do their whole Imperial starter force.

Thats what? About $200? Thats good money

That depends on how long it takes.

Indeed. I paint slowly, $6 a mini would be a horrible value proposition for me.

Then again I am also not particularly good so I don’t need to worry about my hourly painting rate as nobody in their right mind would ever commission me. :P

Painting is its own reward. Money is just gravy :D

I'm guessing (based on my huge experience with Warhammer 40k, built six armies), that that level of painting would take me about 30-40 minutes per model, even with batch painting. That's much lower than I'd charge for my time as either a carpenter or administrator, let alone for materials, but I enjoy the painting, and I can do it while enjoying a show or movie.

I'm only doing his Imps. 14 stormtroopers, vader (counting as two models), and the scout speeder bike, I quoted him $110. $85 if he wants to give me his rebels.

This is my work (these pics are about 5-6 years old, mind).

That's less than minimum wage in Colorado....just sayin.

I know, and I typically make $20+/hr, but painting is fun.

Those look great. Impressive, most impressive.

I have never painted and feel a bit of anxiety over the thought. It looks very difficult.

White can be a bit rough (I wish I had a pic of the first mini I painted 17 years ago!), but if you keep it simple to start, do clean lines and such, it's not bad.

Also, for Armada fighters I've been using micron brush pens. The darker colors work really well, and I plan to see how well they do on the bigger minis. So they could be an option to do details if you're worried.

Or, you know, just hire me to paint them :-):D:P

Thanks and if it doesn’t go well, I will shoot you a pm about hiring you to do some.

They’re very

and of you’ve improved from them, painting stormies will probably be a breeze

I’ll be ramping into Legion painting once I can get a core and time a full paint for pricing...

... White is something I’ve got a lot of experience with...

And the sculpts will be nicer than Rebellion too
