Wow. Faster turn around then I was expecting.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but both Genius nerfs have come rather quickly after it was identified as a problem. I remember being surprised that Genius was included alongside the Biggs, Jumpmaster, Advanced SLAM nerfs that were clearly in the works for a long time.

I think FFG is getting aggressive folks.

So we can put the rogue TO talk to rest now, right?

Fair, but that was still a couple of months, I think. This was what, two weeks?

Quite possibly. I just hope they doesn't get over aggressive.

This makes her arguably more powerful. It should have been range restricted to range 1-2

yes, no doubt about that! May is always better than must

Technically it was 6 weeks because of Wave12/13 release. But just few weeks since the problem was identified, so you're right.

IMO that change was so unanimously supported that such a quick ruling is positive.

Where is the damned Harpoon nerf?

*sigh*.

Yeah, sure, just make them better by confirming the interaction with TLT-like effects.

Yay Leebo. Boo Sabine. Yay TS, I guess. I’ve got a few rule interactions I don’t like, will ffg just randomly say the rules as written don’t work on them too?

This is a clarification FAQ. We wouldn't have got a FAQ this quickly if it had new errata - those need to be playtested.

I have a question on the following...

Q: During the Combat Phase, when does a ship become the active ship?

A: The process occurs in the following manner: the appropriate player nominates one of their eligible ships at the current initiative value. This ship then becomes the active ship, and it may begin the process of performing an attack by measuring range to valid targets (see "Timing Chart for Performing an Attack" on page 8).

I've have previously played when I have multiple ships of the same pilot skill I measure range from any of those eligible ships to valid targets and then chose what order to activate them in.

My Question: Was I playing this wrong before and has this new faq changed the above described interaction?

It seems so. Part of me is sad that the community didn't have more of a chance to try to adjust to it ourselves, but this does mean I don't have to live through the process, so I'll call it a win.

Apparently Frank and/or Alex ruled that his ability did not work against IWSYTDS at both GenCon and US Nationals, so this is a change of ruling.

If so, it was a weird ruling which had non basis on how they wrote the rules and the cards in question. It seems another great argument on why we should wait for official FAQ rather than sticking to random rulings during events, even if they come from the designers.

Thank you FFG for getting a FAQ out so soon.

It's good to see you have an active interest in the health of the game and the community.

Yep, you were playing it wrong

Have people really been arguing that Sabine must occur during the first bomb drop? I've never seen it ruled that way. I can understand the logic they're using. If there are no more bombs on the table then she can't be used at a later time, so she must be used now, but it just goes against so many other designs in this game.

You were playing wrong before and the FAQ in this case was just clarifying in explicit language the way it has always worked. If you measure range (or arc) from a given ship then that's the one you activated and you then can either shoot with it or skip its firing entirely. But you can't measure from another equivalent PS ship and then come back to it.

By the way, that's also something new:

This update goes into immediate effect on January 22nd, 2018.

alright good to know. thankfully I've never played same ps ships in major tournaments.

Thanks. I don't think a single person in my main xwing group has been playing it correctly. good to know

Yeah, I know there were people on the forums convinced it wasn't optional, but I've never actually heard of it being ruled that way in a major event.

Any one mocking the marshals or TOs after this for not budging should really stop and take a second to realize that their polite stubbornness was a key piece to the puzzle of making this happen.

At least I like to think of it that way.

Torani Kulda If a ship affected by Torani Kulda's ability has 0 focus and/or evade tokens, it can still choose to remove all of its focus and evade tokens (0, in this case) to avoid suffering damage.

Don't feel to bad. Me and my play group butchered initiative for many months after we started playing.

These things happen. We initially didn't realize that the "I show you the dark side" condition is limited to pilot cards. Much frustration was had after my A-wings were one-shot with direct hits. Until I asked like you did now, and we learned about our mistake :D

Hurrah! I like these changes. And, I think they all seem to be worded fairly clearly, do they not?

I'm happy to do a random pick-up game now without having to worry if I'll see Trajectory Nymulator.

Uhm ... I don't think everyone will stop using the combo, launching bombs forward still works, just not anymore after a 5-forward ;-)

Why did they make Sabine better?

As soon as the ffg regional guy put on Facebook that his tournament was going to be played this way the writing was on the wall.

But the RAW parade still wouldn't change. Buhahahaha

Actually, I think most of the 'RAW parade' simply suggested that it should be ruled as per RAW, until RAW changes, which IMO is a very valid position to have (as a TO in an official FFG tournament, I think it's your duty to enforce FFGs rules, not change them).

I know just surprised I hadn't figured this out sooner. I've been playing for years and I'm the rules guy in my group
