No ship that small has a cloaking device... but wait!

By Wookiee_Slayer, in X-Wing

I can think of a stupid reason for small ship only

•IG88-A (50) Aggressor
Attanni Mindlink (1), Sensor Jammer (4), IG-2000 (0), Autothrusters (2), Cloaking Device (2), Mangler Canon (4) Tracker Beam (1)

•IG88-B- (50) Aggressor
Attanni Mindlink (1), Sensor Jammer (4), IG-2000 (0), Autothrusters (2), Cloaking Device (2) Mangler Canon (4) Tracker Beam (1)

6 Agi with Autothrusters and the ability to do a bunch of other things depending on what’s going on. No problems here :-)

An equally canonical source - The Clone Wars - has a Falcon-sized ship cloaking, but is had so many drawbacks that it was truly impractical in any kind of dogfight.

The Corvette is a bit bigger than the Falcon, but not by much- it's so slim that its volume will not be vastly greater than the Falcon's.

Another TCW reference - one of the things the bounty hunter Cad Bane is offered as payment by Darth Sidious, to infiltrate the Jedi Temple, is a cloaked starfighter:

Later in the war, the bounty hunter Cad Bane was then given a Rogue-class starfighter with a cloaking device, as payment from his Sith Lord client, Darth Sidious.[8]

Well, it is unique, for starters. Also, IG88-A is so situational; that pilot is really best suited to Epic games. Take C or D instead.

Now the only thing we cannot have in the future is a small scum ship with a bomb, illicit, and either a crew or a second bomb, and then we won't have an overpowered monster akin to what you have described.

Here we go again, trying to be logical and make sense of Star Wars engineering...Even Georges Lucas said that he couldn't care less about this kind of things. Until the explanation for the function of the TIE fighter wings is universal and unique, all engineering discussions about Star Wars are just as worthless as Sheldon Cooper's dilemma about Thor's hammer.
