Well, from the Twi'leks we could get mounted Cavalry, the others might just end up being represented in other slots? The Wookie racial unit will probably happen because Wookies, however the only lasat I expect to see is Zeb for reasons. I am firmly in the camp of wanting more alien representation in the models, partially as it makes for more interesting painting given the models can only easily be assembled one precise way.
Rogue One/Scarif in Legion Confirmed?
So Shoretroopers might be able to take over as Storm trooper sergeants but mixed squads are not standard. They had their own squads, squad leaders and officers, thus being their own corps of troops. Although not being sure on what the leadership mechanic is in Legion, having a nearby Shoretrooper sergeant command both a Shoretrooper squad and maybe allow nearby Stormies to use his leadership or give commands to them if they lost their own sergeant due to whatever reason would be interesting and play up their role as being more exceptional than the standard Stormie Sergeant.
I don't like the whole all shoretroopers are sergeants thing. I think it was a lane visual dictionary explanation for why you see a shoretrooper in the movie with a squad of regulars.
I think it was meant to show that Shoretroopers are veterans and not rookies. the lowest Shoretrooper was a SGT. in a Stormtrooper unit.
In terms of uniforms, don't we essentially have the Pathfinders already? I don't think their outfits are much different then the reb troopers.

The hard part with shores is that they have their own command structure of the "grunt" being a stormtrooper sergeant, then you have a squad leader and captain above that. I think for ease of creation, make sense to have them with their own squad instead of trying to shoehorn them with standard stormtroopers.
I think in canon the shoretroopers were higher ranked stormtroopers who got rotated out to Scarif for a tour (like Del from Inferno Squad) so they could wear comfortable shoes (Orca Bay Brecons are amazingly good shoes to wear), drink margaritas and get a tan.
I think a shoretrooper box realised in the following way would be awesome:
In general they would be a special forces unit, heavily specialised in whatever they are for. (Maybe something very movement/speed focused). But there would also be a stormtroopers only personnel upgrade card which replaces the squad leader with a shoretrooper (using the better E-22 instead of an E-11) and giving the squad an ability which pushes them slightly in the shoretrooper direction. This would be similar to the larger models in runewars which can either be used to form a elite unit or to tweak a normal unit into a standard version of their role. It would also allow you to build a cool scarif themed army with relative ease?.
On another matter: Why is everyone here talking about Pathfinders on Scarif? As far as I know those were Rebel Spec Ops Commandos whilst the Pathfinders were the guys on Endor and a different branch of the rebel Spec Ops.

They can be called SpecOps Pathfinders or Pathfinders. I think most refer to the Scarif troops at Pathfinders since it was more prevalent in media (like the Rebel Pathfinder from Scarif in Galaxy of Heroes). Endor troops have also been called Rebel Commandos.
Okay I totally missed that the rogue one guys were pathfinders too. The guys on Endor definitely were according to shattered empire.
I think it's just the convenience of naming them something other than Rebel trooper guys.

Yes, they are equipped identically...one of them with the beard is even posed after one of the endor commandos. I suppose they could do a more elite version of them later but they wouldn't look much different, the largest difference might be any heavy/special weapons and poses.
Shoretroopers could be done as a regular corps or spec ops with an extra soldier card that would have "stormtrooper and shoretrooper only"

This is an awesome idea, wookies and ithorians could be very good close combat fighters, but you can also use different races for different jobs, such as when in IA they used duros for the rebel saboteurs. Fingers crossed we get an alien in the rebel fleet troopers expansion ![]()
I actually hope that the aliens are dispersed throughout the Rebel units like the Duros is. It fits the Rebel style more than segregated units.
....want to see individual units of different aliens too.....a platoon (squad) of wookies eating some cookies would be fun!....wunderbar!!
I actually don't want to see a squad of Wookies as part of the Alliance, as the Alliance never made Kashyyyk a priority. In fact Wedge, Ackbar, and Leia led a mini mutiny to go help Kashyyyk after Nora's team and Han went there on an unauthorized mission. Now a Wookie subfaction that represents the Wookie resistance against Tolruck's forces, that would be awesome. It could introduce Chewbaccas son Lumpawaroo and be commanded by Greybok, and have Hatchet and Palabar who also helped liberate Kashyyyk.
On a slightly off topic on different models we would like to see. The commandoes on Endor, I want a model of the totally unexplained big guy wearing a suit of, I think Scout trooper armor minus the helm(might have been full stormie) who was shown in the scene where they were all captured.
I would like a smattering of Aliens in different roles across squads. as well as aliens teams possibly, I like @devin.pike.1989's Heavy assault unit with a wookie, a talz, a gigoran, a lasat, etc...
I get the feeling I will be investing more than I'd like to into alternate sculpts, lucky for me, looks like I'll be playing Imperial mainly first so will refrain from painting rebels till I have a better idea of what new expansions and stuff will look like.

I believe the explanation is one of the Rebel troopers dressed in the armour of the Scout trooper who was in front of the bunker. He was keeping watch outside. Apparently you can see him in the background of an earlier shot putting the helmet on.
Confirmed Scarif!

I'll have to look when I get home but one of the art books for Solo: ASWM had concept art with wookies in stormtrooper armor. They looked great. I'd love to see something like that eventually.

Wookies obviously would have a close combat advantage but so would some other interesting Star wars species that we might not get to see otherwise.
Back to D6 as usual with me: we always handled this by saying the stats of squad members averaged out. If you wanted to mix a bunch of alien races it was also explained away as being that, members of a team are assigned based on the skills needed for a mission and therefore may not be typical of their species.
