Stormtrooper article is up

By devin.pike.1989, in Star Wars: Legion

Not a whole lot of new info. It does show a stormtrooper unit splitting fire to attack two units.

I view it as just a filler article, and as exciting as unseasoned mashed potatoes.

Splitting fire is interesting. The Heavy weapon details might be new also.

I'm interested to see them on the table.

We've had the heavy weapon details for awhile. Splitting fire is I think the only new information which in my opinion should have been a part of the combat preview.

I'm interested in seeing all of these units in the STORE, which is why I am frustrated by this sort of article. It serves as an indication that there is still at least a couple weeks before release and they are trying to keep interest up before the official release, without giving us a better indication, of at least what MONTH to expect the release. The problem is, this sort of article is overshadowed by the leaks of Leia and the "Soldiers of the Fleet." Show me THOSE models, not the Stormtrooper cards we already saw in the announcement of the box set.

This is our punishment for the Leia/Fleet soldiers leak.

Yeah this is not exciting news at all. Now we know that we will also be getting a rebel troopers preview article, and the space between the at-st and air speeder was 3 days, so we could be getting the rebel equivalent to this article as late as Thursday; although these are relatively simple articles so it could be earlier than that. All I know is that WE WANT TO SEE THE NEW REBEL EXPANSION.

I don't see a really GOOD reason (besides squeezing an extra article out of it and therefore more "time") to have the Rebel Trooper article separate.... they share the same grenade and utility upgrade. AND they could have done a comparison of the sepecialists or something.

So Stormtrooper squad heavy slot can be either a DLT trooper or HH in a single squad but not both; is that correct?

Correct.

There’s filler articles, and then there’s straight up trolling. Well played FFG.....

Does the storm trooper box come with a targeting scope? What's the benefit of equipping them? Do 2 sources of precise stack?

Keywords should stack (we know Arsenal stacks for example).

Targetting scope is in the core box, Stormtrooper box has Grappling hook. According to rules leaks/the collective understanding of the AT-ST article, Keyword values stack.

Thanks; So do we assume the hidden card is a basic trooper upgrade to account for the other standard e-11 trooper?

The little bit of art visible on the card is the tip of the barrel from the Trooper icon IMO.

Agreed.

It's got to be. Or there would be no point including a 4th trooper model.

Edit: Also as @Caimheul1313 says it looks like a bit of the trooper icon on the back of it poking out.

Stormies with targeting scopes can re-roll up to 4 dice when they spend an aim token.

Been caĺling the +1 trooper for a while now. Has to be the other card, in both trooper sets (althoght i was kinda hoping for a unit leader upgrade with some variety)

Said it before, at this point multiple cores is looking more attractive, especially for those wishing to field both sides.

Grappling hooks is entirely board dependant and may rarely see play.

Impact grenades is useful, but requires getting into r1 of a vehicle which if they dont score a kill may well be suicide.

Both those cards also feature in the snow trooper box so it appears you ain't missing out by not buying the trooper boxes.

"When you’re attacking with this unit, you can choose to have the heavy weapon miniature attack with the weapon shown on its upgrade card—though it may also use the weapons on its unit card if you prefer."

this part is interesting for the HH-12. It doesn't make it as situational as I was expecting.

It kinda does though, also explains why the heavies are so expensive for their output

The HH-12 itself is still very situational, but it does indicate that the first 11 points of the Stormtrooper Specialists are paying for the extra body. It does mean that the model is still able to shoot while waiting for the Recover/Refresh action.

I think the main thing I took away from this is that there are upgrade cards only available in the unit expansion set and that you can have 2 of the same specialist unit in the same squad. That means you could make anti infantry and anti vehicle specialized units. That makes a single unit be able to have quite a few different fieldable variations.

Edit: just kidding. Disregard. I misread that. Don't speed read things on your breaks at work kids.
