tearing my hair out

By Orjo Creld, in Star Wars: Destiny

Still no answers on this board. Maybe nobody knows.

The Rey character card displays 1melee, +2 melee, 1x disrupt 1x resource and +1 resource and a null . What do they mean? So when I activate her I deal 3 melee damage get two resources and disrupt my opponent? What do those symbols on her card mean? Surely FFG is not waiting for episode 9 to resolve this mystery

Noone probably answered because that sounds like a massive troll topic.

Its the results her die have. All die cards have their faces on the card for easy reference, also makes it obvious they have a die at all. They do nothing other than reference the die.

Now wait, I roll the dice to get the results, which I understand and is explained in the rules. I'm talking about how the symbols on the character cards come into play. No explanation anywhere

The card symbols are a guide to what is on the dice facings........

It's an in-game aid. Say you may want to discard a card to reroll some dice. A quick glance at a card will allow you to easily judge whether it's worth it or not.

Assuming this is a legit question:

The answers are in the full Rules Reference Guide, referred to on the starter rules insert and found on the FFG website. The current version is 1.6, and gets updated several times a year. P4 of the RRG has the anatomy of a card, and identifies the block you're referring to as the Dice Reference. It has no game effect, and only serves as a tool for you and your opponent to quickly see all the possible sides of that card's associated die.

Handy Rules Reference

This may help, the little page or two you get in a starter is really just enough to get started, the full rule book reference may help with other hair pulling moments.

So by ignoring them I am not missing some key joy of game

I think you mean the dice reference boxes, not the RRG. Yes, you can ignore them, as they only have the same information that is on the die, and so far no game effect has made specific use of the dice reference box.

You mean the bit labelled 'Dice Symbols' on this image, right?

Swd01_character-card_diagram.png

It exists so that you know which faces exist on the associated die, as others have mentioned. Why is it there? What function does it fulfill? Mostly it means in-game, when you are prompted to change a die to a different side, you won't need to pick up the die and physically flip it around to remind yourself what sides it has (and in the process, forget which side it was on originally, disrupting the game if you decide not to change it after all). In practice, the latter happens anyway.

right;

All right, thank you everyone. I love the game but this baffled me. first time I laid out Fin I gave him a shield. FFG is still tops in my book
