Somebody at FFG destroyed Rey's 2PG illustration.

First, sorry my bad english. When I saw the new Rey card the first time I thought " Wow, so bad this illustration . " And the worst: the illustration was used in everything , in the card, in the box, in the publicity material. The illustration in the card shows a very "pale" Rey ( bad colors ), "lost" in the card ( bad composition ), etc., and this was repeated in the other materials. But okay, go on . So yesterday I was using this card illustration to create a graphic piece to our group of players... I search for the big picture and I did not find it. I got the name of the artist ( Jake Murray ) to try to find the larger image. I entered the site of the guy and BOOM , my head exploded how good the guy is and made several illustrations for Star Wars (see https://goo.gl/4GweMk) and finally I found Rey's image... and when I saw the image... my anger increased ... see only the original https://goo.gl/wGcWRa GUYS, THE ILLUSTRATION IS SO AMAZING! In short: the illustration is great and somebody in FFG DESTROYED destroyed everything . I do not know who you are, designer of Fantasy Flight Games, but I cursed you now . Shame on you. The guy took all the color of the picture, cleared and lost details of texture , put a generic background and dont think that the card comes with another (Poe Dameron) that has a different identity (the two cards formed a set). In the image below, i made the middle card in 20 minutes with the artist's illustration and a generic matte-painting background. But man, is Disney right? Let's this work right.

FFG isn't Disney (yet) but I agree, the rework you did looks better and fits with Poe's card. That's a darn shame. I wonder what reasoning they might have had? As someone whose work often involves commissioning artists (and recutting their work for the product) they must have had some reason for making the change.

Insightful post.

i always thought her 2P art looked washed out or something (too much light exposure kind of look)

They aren't the same image. We sure the better one wasn't a later attempt to improve upon published one? It is possible FFG received a draft image and didn't have time before publishing to switch it out or never changed the files for the printer. Either way, the guys work has improved over time if he did the published art as well.

This is admittedly an egregious error on FFG's part... but then again, so is every single time they choose to use a stupid part of the card image for the die's image. OR when they use two different images (one on the card, and a different one on the die - I'm looking at you U-wing).

Doesn’t LFL have to approve all images/content before it gets published??

she looks like if ripley from alien 3 had a lightsaber

Yes, ever since the Little Mermaid VHS cover scandal Disney keeps a close eye on everything. I doubt they would swap the image, they just want to make sure that light saber Rey is holding looks like a light saber and not something else.

Looks like we are getting a live action re-make of the Magicians Apprentice. That lightsaber could easily be an enchanted mep. :D

I Means mop! Enchanted Mop!

Does Disney really need to do a live action remake of everything? Go on Disney, do a remake of Song of the South, I dare you. See how that works out for you.
