Scum jank pulls in a regional

By ltetone, in X-Wing Squad Lists

from reddit (Traj + genious was allowed)

i dont think i could win a match in my weekly lgs tournies with this jank, but im psyched for the person who did so well with these low PS pilots!

Inaldra — M3-A Interceptor 15
Crack Shot 1
Ion Cannon 3
Pulsed Ray Shield 2
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) 2
Ship Total: 23
Thweek — StarViper 28
Autothrusters 2
StarViper Mk. II -3
Ship Total: 27
Karthakk Pirate — Scurrg H-6 Bomber 24
Tactician 2
Long-Range Scanners 0
Ship Total: 26
Cartel Brute — M12-L Kimogila Fighter 22
Long-Range Scanners 0
Ship Total: 22

I have... no idea what to think of that. Like, it's just ships. A lot of HP, a lot of Red dice. Hard to manage.

Its definately janky :P

I would assume Inaldra was mvp in most matches, ion an enemy and all four wreak havoc at range 1 the following round. Brute and Scurrg are high HP and cheap, so can be aggressive versus bombs. All three low PS have a b-roll to block. I can see the trouble the list can cause.

I flew that cheap Thweek in a local tourney and just annihilated Imperial aces. Getting range is easy and brutal with Thweek and he can dodge Quickdraws arc easy to erase shields and she gets no return shot.

Not bad. Definitely a "Need skill and practice to fly" list, so I dont expect it to ever be seen again, lol.

Talking with Jim afterwards he did mention that crackshot Ion Inaldra was the MVP of his list. In his last match, the Kimogila took two harpoons and a bomb, and survived with 1 hull. About an hour in, both Miranda and Nym had 2 hull each. There was a blinded pilot that landed on Miranda, but she ran and repaired.

Top 8 game vs imperial aces he landed Inaldra in range of Kylo, Ioned him, and took him down the next turn.

Jim is very good at flying lists he comes up with (he likes the 4 ship style, or 3 with a large base) and has been flying starvipers since they came out. He won 2 store champs this year with his own creations. I'd call this one more of a toolbox than Jank given what he was prepared to deal with on the day.

Recently, i brought my Jakku Jank Gang to a tournament, and it was way more solid than i thought it would be.

M3-A Interceptor: •Quinn Jast (25)
Guidance Chips (0)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2)
Attanni Mindlink (1)
Harpoon Missiles (4)

M3-A Interceptor: •Inaldra (22)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2)
Attanni Mindlink (1)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)

Quadjumper: Jakku Gunrunner (19)
Spacetug Tractor Array (2)
Pattern Analyzer (2)

M3-A Interceptor: •Sunny Bounder (19)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2)
Ion Cannon (3)

Z-95 Headhunter: Binayre Pirate (15)
Vectored Thrusters (2)
Black Market Slicer Tools (1)

Total: 100/100

The PS kills start to wear on you no matter how well you fly it, but it definitely punches above its weight, and the toolbox-iness will give other lists anxiety attacks.

So I used to run a Scum Jank list called The Huntsmen that was Kavil with Dorsal Turret, Unhinged Astromech, Engine Upgrade; a Gand Findsman in the Misthunter with Dengar and Advanced Sensors and a couple of Binayre Pirates with Vectored Thrusters. It was a pretty cool list, the idea was to suck the opponent into shooting at the Misthunter and then pummel them with Kavil, the pirates were there as blockers and fire support.

That list has had it's day, I'm now upgrading it to the Huntsmen v3 (There was a v2, but it was not very good) which replaces the Misthunter with a Cartel Executioner in a M12-L:

Kavil (24)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Dorsal Turret (3)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Cartel Executioner (24)
Deadeye (1)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Contraband Cybernetics (1)
Enforcer (1)

Binayre Pirate (12)
Scrambler Missiles (2)
Contraband Cybernetics (1)
Vectored Thrusters (2)

Binayre Pirate (12)
Scrambler Missiles (2)
Contraband Cybernetics (1)
Vectored Thrusters (2)

Total: 98

2pt Initiative Bid, 4 Ships, the Cartel Executioner is there to fire ordnance, he'll (hopefully) attack and disengage/reload and use his Contraband Cybernetics to pull off something cool (like a K-Turn/Focus followed by a Deadeye/Harpoon). Kavil is still the cornerstone of the list with his 4 Dice Range One shot from the Dorsal Turret (out of arc only); finally the Pirates are now upgraded to also have scrambler missiles (I'm thinking some ranged control options here) and also have Contraband Cybernetics and Vectored Thrusters which hopefully give them some options.

I think there is a lot more room in this game for lists like this. But the human mind just craves symmetry so much, a lot of these lists never see the light of day. Congrats to the pilot.

I was truly inspired by this thread and tried something similar yesterday:

Thweek (28)
Autothrusters (2)
StarViper Mk. II (-3)

Inaldra (15)

Pulsed Ray Shield (2)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) (2)

Contracted Scout (25)
Trick Shot (0)
Tactician (2)
Ion Projector (2)

Jakku Gunrunner (15)
Intelligence Agent (1)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Spacetug Tractor Array (2)

I flew against Kylo in a push the limit silencer, space taxi Duchess and a poonboat. Copied PS 10 of duchess and had the bid, so Thweek flew last. Mistakes were made on both sides. Lost my Quadjumper early but got duchess in return and the gunboat in an ion lock. Forgot the trick shot, otherwise it would have been short process with Kylo.

This is so much fun to fly. Love Inaldra, her interaction with the pulsed ray shield is great. Keep in mind to save the recharge until you need that 1 straight.

Looking forward to mix and match - btl-a4 ion Y and a few points more into Thweek instead of the Jumpmaster sounds interesting, too. But I will miss the tactician...

Looks like a fun but tough list to fly. If it were me i would take Torkil and run something like this

Starviper: •Thweek (27)
Autothrusters (2)
Starviper Mk.II (-3)

HWK-290: •Torkil Mux (25)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
•Zuckuss (1)

M12-L Kimogila Fighter: Cartel brute (22)
Long-Range Scanners (0)

Scurrg H-6 Bomber: Karthakk Pirate (24)
Long-Range Scanners (0)
Courier Droid (0)

Total: 98/100

I haveTorkil on another 3 ship list so i had to strip him a little. You could lose your initiative bid and put inspiring recruit on the pirate but moving Thweek definitely helps this list

I love Torkil. Doesnt matter how high your Nym or Vader is, my lvl 1s are still shooting first lol. Then chance to still ion that ship and chase it down. Might put 4lom instead of zuckuss. Good chance of hitting still and Torkil can still take an action next turn

Scum can put together some surprisingly powerful Jank builds at the moment, many of which can easily catch people of guard.

Thweek and Torkil are both superb backbones for a 4 ship list as @Gokuja04 mentioned above. Palob's fun. The new Scyk and Kihraxz pilots are great. Vaksai is good for throwing together some cheap combinations, and and the Scurgg and Kimogila add some reliable, hard hitting beef.

I just threw together a Cartel list off the top of my head:

Black Sun Ace - Vaksai, Deadeye, Cruise Missile, Contraband Cybernetics, Guidance Chips, Munitons Failsafe (25)
Black Sun Ace - Vaksai, Deadeye, Cruise Missile, Contraband Cybernetics, Guidance Chips, Munitons Failsafe (25)
Cartel Executioner - Trick Shot, Long Range Scanners (24)
Tansarii Point Veteran - Trick Shot, Heavy Scyk, Heavy Laser Cannon (26)

...moderately tough and can hit like a truck. There's literally no reason not to switch the Tansarii Vet out for Torkil, though (other than theme). The other alternative is to drop the Tansarii to an Ion Cannon to add movement control, and give the Executioner the Enforcer title and R5-P8 to make people think twice about targetting him...

I really wanna try to make Dace viable with Maul crew in combo with ICT and another ion cannon in the list, but he just get's real expensive so fast and will likely get nuked off the board before getting in range to fire.

You will have to live with the "nuked off the board" thing with such lists. Just be careful that it is not your center piece (like thweek or dace in your example). But something else will perish quickly.

But with four ships, if you can avoid a one turn loss of a single ship, it can still block with your damaged ones or you can disengage to force the enemy to split fire.

The dream is Dace at range 1 with PRS and ion dischargers. Free regen or ion and unavoidable dmg. Sadly, he’s unlikely to get that close.

Add a Cloaking Device maybe? Points are ramping up...

I just saw this thread, so I thought I'd add my list,

Snuck this one into top 8 at the NC regional

I call them the 'Outer Rim Jobbers'

Protectorate Star.: •Fenn Rau (34)
Autothrusters (2)
Concord Dawn Protector (1)
Push the Limit (3)

Y-Wing: •Kavil (31)
Trick Shot (0)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Unhinged Astromech (1)

Scurrg H-6 Bomber: Lok Revenant (35)
Guidance Chips (0)
Trick Shot (0)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
Extra Munitions (2)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
•Boba Fett (1)

Total: 100/100

Its got really solid damage output, and either or Fenn or Kavil work well as late game players.

After talking to the guy I lost to in top 8 I switched Boba Fett and Trick Shot for Deadeye on the Lok Revenant.
