Call up an Imperial Star Destroyer, I have an idea!

So, I'm a first-time player, and I was looking at the cards in the Chimera and had an idea. I want to see if it's actually feasible:

ISD (Kuat) - 112

Engine Techs - 8

Hardened Bulkheads - 5

Ordnance Experts - 4

Expanded Launchers -13

Total: 132

My idea for this is to make this ship your last activation, and be able to turn the ISD into a battering ram and then unload with black dice.

Since this is my first time building a ship, it's probably to crazy to work, but I still want to know what you people think.

Oh yeah, if you need to reach me, I had the Mexican jalapeño bean chili dip, and I washed it down with a gallon of gin. I'll be in and out all day.

It has no support slot for engine techs

And the shooting happens before moving, so it’s dice then ram, just in case

I'd love to see an ISD variant with a support slot for engine tech one day (probably won't happen), but yeah for now this combo is impossible. I'd also suggest leading shots (ion upgrade slot) over ordnance experts. That way you can reroll all your dice colours from distance two or closer instead of just black dice, and allows you to equip Gunnery Team if you want.

I suspect External Racks is going to be just plain better than Expanded Launchers. If they let you target two different ships over multiple rounds with your front arc, they’ve likely screwed up, big time. If your first shot didn’t kill them, and if you get another front arc shot, you probably won’t need those extra two dice to finish them. And you can shoot out the sides with ER, for ten less points.

Very true, but not everyone has access to External Racks (shocking, i know). My opponent, for instance only has Expanded Launchers and Rapid Reload. I guess i'll be nice and loan him one or two of mine, but not looking forward to it lol.

That is a tragic problem, and he has my sympathy. Hammerheads are worth getting (even if the models are just for target practice. ;))

Proxy is casual, proxy is life(don't do it at tournaments of course)

EL was 13 points largely for one reason, the ability of demo to last-first something and hence delivering 12 dice from the front consecutively. Unless you intend to do that with this EL kuat refit(and isds eat up alot of points already in the list).

Gunnery teams with leading shots as a reroll security could work, though enemies have to be clumped up closely for that to pay off(as mentioned by others above). Note that ER can also be fired on squadrons while EL can only fire on ships, so while ER is a one-time use it will almost always repay its cost.

I would actually recommend "black crit effects" ordnance upgrades like WAB, ACM and APT instead. If you are already charging into a clump of enemies, Wide Area Barrage has high chance to be useful while being only 2 points. Also, you will aleady be adding reroll upgrades like LS/OE to make your shots count, and the kuat refit also has some blacks along the sides(in fact in every hull zone) so these upgrades can be useful even if the enemy flanks you(like a ship trying to jump over you to run or an admo trying to take you down)

I just want to try a kuat with acms, heavy ion emplacements, and fire control teams
