"Linked Targeting System" variant and T 65s

By Hexdot, in X-Wing

T 65 X Wing only. Title. 1 pt.

"When attacking with your primary weapon, if you have one or more unmodified Hit or Crit results, you may add one Hit result".

Fear the Quad Lasers. Another tool to give new life to old warhorses. This is my variant of the homebrewed Modification upgrade found in this forum months ago. From the Lore we know that the Quad Lasers plus advanced targeting systems equipped in X Wings were feared during the Galactic Civil War.

Fast but not the fastest ship...

Agile but not a rival to a humble Tie Fighter...

Well protected but softer skin than Y Wings...

But unmatched firepower.

Many ways to fix the venerable T 65. Many good ideas out there on the web. "Rogue Squadron" my favoutite, enhancing survival capacity.

Always thought that T 65 punch was good enought. But after working a little with this title, new life to those Red Squad Veterans.

Your opinion?

Not bad, but I fear it may be a little too much. I dont like adding dice results so much.
And, in my opinion, I'd like the X-wing offensive fix to combo well with Target Lock, instead of Focus. Yours encourages the focus action.

In our group, we wanted to encourage using the specific action of the X-wing over its imperial classic counterparts ( /ln and /int). So our solution is : "When attacking, if unstressed, you may turn one focus result to a hit result".
(also, we gave the thing the boost action, so that both ships from the starter kit get 3 actions, one being a repositionning option)

Good idea. Thanks for sharing.

I like a Dual Card approach:

Quad laser cannons - linked

When attacking with your primary weapon, you may add one [crit] result. If you do, after attacking you must flip this card over.

Quad laser cannons - stutter

When attacking with your primary weapon, you may change one blank result to a [eye] result.

When you hit with a primary weapon attack, the defender suffers one damage. Then cancel all dice.

During the end phase if you made no primary weapon attacks this round, you may flip this card over.

You'd essentially be giving the T-65 a 4-die attack, with a decent chance of double-crits. You also get extreme reliability and don't need to spend token offensively anywhere near as much. I think it's actually worth more than 1 point, even on such a fragile frame. 2 points is probably ideal.

Agree. Thinking a little about this. Epic Play. 2 "Vics" of 3 ships each. One "Rogue Squadron" with enhanced Defence, the second with this upgrade. Could work...

I like the idea. Little cheap, but would likely get more T-65s back into play.
