RAC-Lo... how do YOU build it?

By emeraldbeacon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, in all the days I've been flying X-Wing, I've never properly tried a RAC-Lo build (mainly because I trend pretty strongly towards Rebel lists). I thought I'd try one out, so I did some net searching, and came up with this:

  • Rear Admiral Chiraneau (total of 64)
    • EPT: Predator
    • CREW: Kylo Ren, Mara Jade, Rebel Captive
    • MISC: Engine Upgrade, Dauntless
  • Wingman Option 1: Darth Vader (35 points)
    • EPT: Veteran instincts
    • WEAPONS: Harpoon Missiles, Guidance Chips
    • MISC: TIE/x1, Advanced Targeting Computer
  • Wingman Option 2: Quickdraw (36 Points)
    • EPT: Veteran Instincts
    • CHASSIS: Special Ops Training, Lightweight Frame
    • SYSTEMS: Fire Control System, Advanced Optics

Chiraneau is set up as a stress-dealing tank who wants to get in really close for the fighting. Both Wingman options are built as ultra-high pilot skill flankers, while Vader is more of a sniper, Quickdraw a scrapper.

That said, what are your thoughts into either of these variants, or your own concepts of the RAClo setup?

Now, I really dig RACLo. I would choose QD w/ VI/FCS/LWF/Title as the wingmate - very potent these days.

RAC has lots of builds. I've gone up against, and seen with great effect, RAC w/ VI, HSCP, Gunner, Kylo, Title, which would leave some room for Tech on QD. However, you're build concept has a potent control element. Both have a lot of potential - you could try fly both, see which is more effective these days.

The foundation for RAClo is: VI/Kylo/Engine Upgrade. Your Decimator wants to arc-dodge to survive.

Then, depending on points you have two popular options: Palpatine or Gunner/Hotshot Copilot. Both have their merits.

If you can afford it, the title allows you to use Kylo or boost even if you were blocked.

I've been wanting to try the new Silencer out so I thought about what to fly next to it. Why not a RAC?

BRACOUT

100 points

PILOTS

Test Pilot “Blackout” (40)
TIE Silencer (31), First Order Vanguard (2), Push the Limit (3), Collision Detector (0), Pattern Analyzer (2), Autothrusters (2)

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (60)
VT-49 Decimator (46), Push the Limit (3), Kylo Ren (3), Intelligence Agent (1), Inspiring Recruit (1), Dauntless (2), Engine Upgrade (4)

The plan is to setup obstacles rather dense and have Blackout dance around them having obstructed shots and have Chiraneau chirp around the outskirts and if needed turn in and block.

VT-49 Decimator: •Rear Admiral Chiraneau (62)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Veteran Instincts (1)
•Kylo Ren (3)
Gunner (5)
Navigator (3)

Alpha-Class Star Wing: •Major Vynder (37)
Advanced SLAM (2)
Os-1 Arsenal Loadout (2)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Extra Munitions (2)
Harpoon Missiles (4)

Total: 99/100

Ive tried different versions of RAC including yours and have had close games. But this version i think i really like. Especially with bombs, missiles and everything flying around navigator and EU can give you a chance to avoid bombs or Gerry out of missile range, or with VI you can arc dodge better after your opponent has moved. Kylo and gunner is self explanatory.

Vynder with harpoons and EM is nice because you get a 2 shot strike before having to reload which in my opinion is very much needed given how far RAC can go down sometimes. After switching to this build i pulled off a win after a close defeat with the other build

I run the following:

RAC (64)
Palp
EU
Kylo
Dauntless
VI

Lieutenant Colzet (23)
Title
Sensor Jammer

Academy Pilot (12)

Totalling 99 points.

Colzet is the greatest NPE in the game in combination with Kylo, which can guarantee a single blinded pilot for COlzet to flip. Again. And again. You get a guaranteed win against 2 ship lists, and Chiraneau gets 2 hits and a crit (or better) like clockwork with Palp.

Sort of Trolling but this is something I had with the two of them in their own ships.

VT-49 Decimator: •Rear Admiral Chiraneau (56)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Veteran Instincts (1)

•Rebel Captive (3)

•Moff Jerjerrod (2)

Courier Droid (0)

TIE Silencer: •Kylo Ren (44)

Autothrusters (2)

Push the Limit (3)

Advanced Sensors (3)

Primed Thrusters (1)

Total: 100/100

Difficult target priority as shooting Kylo allows him to show you the dark side, and shooting RAC deals stress. RAC also has Jerjerrod to deal with incoming crits and 3 crew to throw at them.

Gonna try to get it to a table soon. Might want to just lose MJ and the droid for initiative bid, not sure.

What about FCS on Colzet ?

So I've put FCS on Colzet and loved it. It helped me get rid of the TL shakers I.E. Poe, etc. I ran mine different than above, but if I use Colzet with Kylo (crew), I MUST have Title, FCS. not to mention you can pull an evade or focus for defense since you're not really trying to do more damage, you just want to keep flipping.
