Fishing with Dynamite

By DukeLietalker, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Alright I have a build I haven't got to try yet wanna see everyone's input before I run it.

M-12 (Torani)- Guidance chips, Enforce, Saturation Salvo, Extra Munitions, Harpoon, and R5-TK

Z-95(Binayre pirate)- Hull upgrade, and Dead Man's switch x3

Z-95( Binayre Pirate)- Dead Man's switch.

100 points

The idea is to move the z95s real close to the enemy ships and harpoon your own ship causing splash damage with the harpoon condition card, and use saturation Salvo if the attack doesn't land. And after the z95s blow up from the harpoon it cause double damage one from harpooned and one from dead mans switch. And just keep the m-12 in the back ground

HAHAHAHAHA I've been waiting to see when someone tries this!

Now, I have no idea if it would actually be viable, but I strongly believe it's worth a shot. Here's my comments:

The odds of Harpoons missing your Zs are minimal, meaning Sat Salvo isn't super useful. VI would be way better, helping you line up that Bullseye Arc, though something like Expertise m i g h t be my choice.

You also don't really need the HU on the Zs. You want them to die. Maybe throw missiles on a couple if you want them to do a bit more.

It worked out alright I made the mistake of flying the zs in formation. Also the hull upgrade was waist of points. Should have equipped expertise instead of saturation salvo

How about this?

  • Torani Kulda - Veteran Instincts, R5-TK, Harpoon Missiles, Guidance Chips (32 points)
  • Binayre Pirate - Dead Man Switch (14 points)
  • Binayre Pirate - Dead Man Switch (14 points)
  • Binayre Pirate - Dead Man Switch (14 points)
  • Binayre Pirate - Dead Man Switch (14 points)
  • Sunny Bounder - "Light Scyk" Interceptor (12 points)
  • 100 points total

Torani is leaner, but you really don't need a lot of extra fluff on him. VI gives you a better shot at triggering his ability, and you can always attempt to reload the harpoons as needed. Your Suicide Squad is leaner and cheaper, so you're giving away a lot less points. They're just going to run interference and cause troubles anyway. Sunny is there more as a flanker and harassment tool. If they turn towards her, run away, and force a pursuit. If they avoid her, plink away and hope for free dice results.

Alternately, drop Sunny and re-stock Torani with more fun stuff... Extra Munitions, Enforcer title, maybe a Scavenger Crane for easier reloading.

was the M-12 strong enough to be the backbone of the squad? I find it hard to believe TBH. But if it works that is great news!
