SSD EXPANSION REVEALED
That is... what I’m going to do when I get back home. Do you have instructions? Or is it a kit? Link to site? What all needs to be bought for that? Estimated cost? Time invested? Halp

Its a set. I believe it isnt sold by lego anymore. But you could find the instructions on the internet ( just search Super star destroyer lego instructions) and buy each individual part. It’ll only cost you 10 times what the set costs second hand.
yes but does it solve activation advantage?

No. I have not bought any LEGO in a while, but I bought this as I thought it would look good with my Armada collection.

It is made by Lepin, a Chinese knockoff of LEGO. They mostly copy LEGO sets. I was not going to buy an actual LEGO SSD because the price for one of those has risen to about $800 last time I looked. The Lepin model was $114. You can find it at Ali Express. The components are good quality, but it does not come with instructions. You can find those on LEGO's website.
I'd slap you.
I believe there are rumors of an impending rerelease. Just getting that out there before you try the “buy the individual parts” strategy...

There are rumors the Ultimate Collector Series Super Star Destroyer is going to be re-released this year or next, maybe slightly updated with parts that have since been released.
So unless you find a good deal on the original i'd hold off and check in on lego fan sites every now and then.
Lego essentially has a number of slots for Ultimate Collector Series sets that have out for sale and are going to release, its usually two new sets a year, sometimes one. Last year we got the Falcon and the updated Snowspeeder.
Wow I actually thought we had got an SSD announcement. You got me.

Yep these SSD revealed threads have not become tedious at all...
So, for reference, for those arguing about the size of models and how the argued-for-36" version would be 'way too big' or 'could never be released' - the LEGO version of the SSD (which this seems to be a straight copy of) is 50" long. I'd been fishing for a picture of it next to the Armada ships, but wasn't having any luck finding one on the 'nets, so...thanks, OP!
(I may be changing my opinion on what the Armada ship needs to be scaled at - I now think more like 48" being a better fit than even 36")
I'm in!
Take my money FFG, Please.
After building it, I don't see how the SSD can be implemented in Armada realistically. This model is about 2x smaller than a scaled SSD would be compared to an ISD. Any smaller and the SSD would look weird.

It's dial is obviously limited to speed '1', with a '1' notch on that. You'd set the maneuver template based on the rear of the two 'large'-size bases it would need. I think that'd work alright. (Keep in mind that the FFG version of the model is going to be a LOT lighter than the LEGO version, owing to VASTLY less plastic used as it's hollow)
My problem with the SSD is, after trying to create one with a friend, is we cant find the right balance between "playable" and SS-F*****-D"
it was either playable but too tame, or perfect but impossible to defeat.
Size works fine between 2 and 3foot we found, but its stats were either OP or not SSD worthy :/
Sliding scale guys sliding scale. The only ship that isn't close to the projected curve is the af2..... Big surprise there

Really? My dad, a huge LEGO fan, got the UCS Millennium Falcon and is now part of an exclusive lego group that gets special stuff. Maybe this might be it

I keep saying this to people. Yes the AF2 is the only one outside the projected curve but on the small side of the curve. If you obeyed the sliding scale the AF2 would be LARGER than it is. The MC30c frigate is about 600m long while the AF2 is 700m long and the MC30c miniature is longer than the AF2. So don't complain, we could have gotten a gigantic ugly model.

We already did haha
