[Video] Prototype Toronto League - Season 10 Playoffs

By Cod, in X-Wing

Hello everyone!

The Prototype Toronto League is a casual-competitive league that runs every 7 weeks here in Toronto, Canada. It's a league where players are required to fly a different list for each match, and cannot repeat unique pilots during a season. A full description is here: http://dockingbay416.com/the-prototype-toronto-league/

As you can see by the title, we've been going strong for 10 seasons now, and VTTV has been there the last few seasons to cover these playoffs. The appeal of these matches is that the league rules guarantees a spread of interesting ships and lists throughout the entire postseason, and not the same 'flavor of the month' mirrors that you may see in more competitive events.

We start with several quarterfinal videos, and I'll be updating this thread as we release more videos. Enjoy!

And a quarterfinal match that uses the 'Mercenaries' rules - explanation is in the video description.

Semifinal match:

Finals match, including a post-game interview with both players.

Hey, I've really enjoyed your PTL videos, and have watched a great many. One criticism is that too many times the commentators are not talking about what IS happening at the game in front of them, but talking about what happened in another game. I have watched as commentators get lost in the game they are supposed to be simul-casting, and it's been unprofessional and frustrating. Otherwise, though, I am digging your league and the concepts.

Hey Heliodorus, thanks for your feedback.

The commentators for the PTL games that we cast are sourced directly from the PTL itself, as both contributors to the league or organizers, and so they inject a lot of meta commentary about the state of the league and other matches to provide context for the current game on camera. We've tried to take steps to keep commentators on track during the pivotal moments of the game but ultimately we do think that it provides flavor to the games being cast as well as a way to fill dead air during the downtime between actions in the game.

Thanks for watching!
