Pattern Analyzer and Ship Overlap

By Leobarron2000, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Does Pattern Analyzer also allow you to use an action if you overlap a ship?

My guess is no because "overlapping" a ship does not cause "stress" and therefore does not apply. Therefore, the overlapping ship still cannot perform an "action".

Thoughts?

No. PA ONLY changes the timing of when you gain or lose stress from move colour, and other things that share that timing.

That's what I thought. If you run into a ship, you lose an action, regardless if you have PA as an upgrade.

overlapping a ship only make you skip your "action phase", but you can still do free actions if you have some avalaible.

Anything that makes you skip the action step still skips it, regardless of where PA put it.

Only reason PA allows actions on debris is because debris doesnt disable actions, its stressing you out and PA simply moved actions to be before the stress.
Rocks and ship bumping flatout deny the action though. Or connernets

Exactly. If Pattern Analyser gave you a "free action" and skipped the "perform action step" (like advanced sensors does), it would work. But since it's still the perform action step (albeit in a different place) it's still skipped as the result of a collision.
