For the Dark Pharaoh herald, does trading an exhibit item or unique item to another investigator call down the sanity loss or curse, or is it just drawing the items in question?
Dark Pharaoh herald question
I'd go for the drawing issue, but not so certain about.
Usually I would, but the herald sheet uses the specific phrase "gains an exhibit item" instead of "draws an exhibit item" so I thought I would check. Then again, the game isn't always consistant in it's terminology.
I've always played that receiving via trade makes you lose sanity.
Noting that the Dark Pharaoh herald has the lowest "difficulty" score on the stats report sheet, he could certainly use this boost.

I also play if an item is obtained/gained for 2 reasons. It seems to be what it says and that's the way I'd write it based on the idea that the curse travels with the item like in "real life" or the movies.
In fact when I boosted that herald I turned the curse into a corruption card and you always get it, no matter how you obtained the exhibit item.
Ok, that's how I've been playing it, so I'll keep playing it that way. Glaaki and the Dark Pharaoh are taking turns bouncing me off the floor right now. So fun for Monterey to start the game with one sanity, too.

Pfft ;') it's probably the lowest difficulty because it's usually paired with Nyarlathotep (i.e. it doesn't matter how poorly players do in game, they'll still bludgeon him to death in the end).

I wouldn't think gains and draws are the same either. So yeah, I'd play you take penalties for trading.
I don't believe it, I won against Glaaki and the Dark Pharaoh. One servant of Glaaki left on the sheet, one space left on the doom track, two rifts roaming the board, and the southside strangler knocking off allies left and right, and I was able to lay down a 6th seal through getting clues in a lucky other world encounter.
