Data Set Help Needed: Rules Set Used for Upcoming Tournaments

By sozin, in X-Wing

Since FFG HQ decided to go with the ruling that Genius and Trajectory Simulator don't work together for their upcoming Regional, the podcast nerds decided it would be helpful to create a spreadsheet of all the upcoming tournaments (Regionals and System Opens) and what rules they would be using. Our goal is to get the information in everyone's hands so they can have a fun tournament regardless of which ruleset is being used.

You can find that spreadsheet here .

Column F contains the a Yes/No column for which ruleset is being used: "Yes" for Using FFG HQ Regional Rules, "No" for not.

We need your help to collect this data! The sooner the better -- with over 20 regionals coming up in the next 45 days, the more advanced notice people can get, the better. I'll also likely be linking this information up on Meta-Wing as well for folks that are doing Regional and System Open prep.

If you know the answer, please feel free to put it below or insert it as a comment into the sheet itself.

PLEASE don't use this thread as an opportunity to vent on the fact that we're in this situation. (H ere's an excellent thread for that ; I've already vented my spleen there.) While admittedly kind of messed up, its more important that we make the best of it and try to help the community have the best time they can during Regional and System Open season.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Community is being its usual excellent self and providing data. We've got six regionals entered into the sheet so far. 3 are going with the FFG HQ Rules, 3 are going RAW.

HQ Rules: 5

RAW: 6

Uncounted: 38 (including System Opens)

It says genius +trajectory is banned completely for Krayt cup? I thought they said you could still equip the upgrades?

also I didn’t see the Glendale system open on there. It is ruling RAW.

Re; Krayt cup, that sounds right, I'll update the notes column.

Re: Glendale System Open, got a link?

System open- http://legacy.cascadegames.com/Star-Wars.html

rulings pdf per Iain Hamp (head judge and pretty much head hancho of all things xwing in the Phoenix/Glendale area)-

Also while I understand commentary isn’t necessary here, I did want to say the fall out from this is absolutely astonishing. I would have never guessed the split would be so even. I fully expected it to lean to one side heavily (although I will not say which I assumed in an attempt to keep from sparking unnecessary debate here ;) ).

Bad Sozin! You didn't even LIST the alaska regional! (Feb 17th, Tier 1 Cards and Games, Anchorage, AK, not banning the genius/TS combo at this time)

Edit: Nevermind found it, it's jut not all in order by date. Only most of it.

Hoping to see the verdict from Adepticon soon as I make plans to practice for it.

Sort Better!

Yeah, I forgot to add column A (Type) to the Filter set which messed up the sort. I've fixed it.

Adepticon (and all system opens) will be going RAW with high hopes that the official FAQ will drop before then.

Hey @Killerardvark does that include European System Opens? Or just US? I'll update the sheet accordingly.

USA only that I'm aware of.

Games and Stuff Regional players voted 80-5 to go with the FFG HQ Ruling.

Given the same opportunity, I would put a lot of money that they would vote to straight ban harpooned and TLT as well.

You'd make a killing on that bet, except probably no-one would take the other side of it :/

I wouldn't bet against it being a straight majority, but I'd plunk a bit of money down if there were a generous spread. It would be a lot less one sided.

Oh, good. Let me just go assemble an Ethereum-based X-Wing derivatives betting market, back in a jiffy...

That still makes more sense to me than dogecoin....

I’m going to be surprised if premier events make this change.
