Learning to Fly (Again)

By Stasy, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So I'm finally playing in a tournament this weekend. I haven't touched the game in months. I'm thinking about taking a tanky list that's easy so I mostly not lose big. (Winning is for once I remember what the **** I am doing!)

Any suggestions or ideas? I'm kind of thinking dual pickles and some flotillas. I'd do a InterDoctor fleet, but even when I was good I couldn't make a good list for that.

Thanks in advance!

Are you playing in West Chester? I was hoping to make it there, but it isn’t going to happen.

Here is a fun double 80 list. Typical hammer and anvil with 2 coms net flotillas.

Faction: Rebel
Commander: Garm Bel Iblis

Assault: Advanced Gunnery
Defense: Contested Outpost
Navigation: Solar Corona

MC80 Assault Cruiser (114)
• Garm Bel Iblis (25)
• Toryn Farr (7)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Reinforced Blast Doors (5)
• Leading Shots (4)
• XI7 Turbolasers (6)
= 168 Points

MC80 Star Cruiser (96)
• Gunnery Team (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
• Mon Karren (8)
= 115 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Comms Net (2)
= 20 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Comms Net (2)
= 20 Points

Squadrons:
• Shara Bey (17)
• Tycho Celchu (16)
• 2 x E-wing Squadron (30)
= 63 Points

Total Points: 386

You still have some wiggle room in there for upgrades or a 3rd flotilla, if you drop something. I don’t know if it will win, but it isn’t complicated or relying on tricks.

Good luck and have fun.

I am! Shame you won't be able to make it. Thanks for the list!

Here's another that subs the liberty for a couple of trc90s. With ackbar, trc90s are super consistant ships with the ability to shoot from the front as well as keep up heavy damage from tbe sides as they kite away. Now that trc is an exhaust, this fleet is a lot of fun to fly.

Defiance and QBT are redunndant ways to add blue dice at long range for leading shots rerolls to help those 6 reds at long stick. At mid range, you can throw 6 red, 3 blue, and a black or 6 red and 4 blue.

The fleet likes first, and play aggressive with the pickle going speed 2 with engine techs, but also doesnt mind second as AG is certain doom for anyone that picks it, and the double def retro and lando with the big threat radius makes contested outpost a winner for you too. So you play dangerous territory a lot, which usually nets you 30 points or so as well as putting a little pain on your opppnent. Also means your pickle can now disregard obstacles, which is nice for playing again for the first time in a while.

If you play against squads, try to shoot for second so you dont get an objective that isnt favorable.

Hey Stasy! Have fun!

Do you own 3 assault frigates (or can borrow...)? Check out pheaver's post about his Ackbar list from the WV regional -- looks fun/straightforward enough:

https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/267651-low-brainpower-ackbar-list-4th36-at-wv-regionals/

I read that thread and my mind went to how to emulate that. I don't have 3, but the last list I was running was two of them loaded up.

Ackbar 4 Ship (391/400)
======================
Assault Frigate Mk.II B (72 + 64)
+ Admiral Ackbar (38)
+ Intel Officer (7)
+ Gunnery Team (7)
+ Electronic Countermeasures (7)
+ Dual Turbolaser Turrets (5)
Assault Frigate Mk.II B (72 + 26)
+ Intel Officer (7)
+ Gunnery Team (7)
+ Electronic Countermeasures (7)
+ Dual Turbolaser Turrets (5)
CR90 Corvette A (44 + 16)
+ Intel Officer (7)
+ Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
+ Jaina's Light (2)
GR-75 Medium Transports (18 + 4)
+ Comms Net (2)
+ Bright Hope (2)
Biggs Darklighter (19)
Shara Bey (17)
3 x X-wing Squadron (3 x 13)
Minefields
Planetary Ion Cannon
Targeting Beacons

That looks fun too.

If you wanted something closer to his, you could switch out one of his assault frigates for an MC30 -- gear it out for range (gunnery teams, even enhanced armaments), or add ordnance experts and a title for it to dive in close.
