I agree it's shouldn't work. But it does and the one thing we have to think about, is when they were play testing this. Genius wasn't nerfed yet. So They had to have people with Genius and Bomblet and TS, never running out and playing the entire game with it. think of how bad it would be the old way, Nym would have so many options and the fact that they didn't identify this as a problem is really starting to make me lose faith in the Designers.
Edited by eagletsi111Genius + TS Doesn't Work Together Anymore. Maybe.

In 1772 slavery was declared unlawful in england. Immediately discussion started why it should be tolerated in the abroad territories.
In 1776 the 13 colonies declared their independence.
In 1865 slavery was officially abolished in the United States of America.
I think your analogy fits. ?

New cancer is now infectious and spreading as a pandemic.
There is a reason why experimental cancer drugs are not just handed out to everyone... so the analogy seems to work.
Anyway. What I really would love to see some regional TOs to have real balls and declare TLT and harpoons not working, Genius not working with TS. TS working on the punisher and proxies legal.
Allowing proxies increase the fun significantly more than removing genious bomb launches. And does not make the counter attempts to Nymranda futile, nor the training from people to plan to fly the list since around November.
Heck. If I think about... I would be fine with limiting each type of secondary weapon to one. Make them all unique. No TLT spam anymore, just how they restricted some upgrades in epic to 4 per 300 point list.

I'd guess that first, people don't like to have their ships annihilated. The kinds of ships which might have the green dice and mods to survive a 4 & 5 dice harpoon attacks are also often the ones who get mauled by Proton Bombs.
Ironicly one of the other current meta list is just using three gunboats with harpoons + quick draw. So the amount of dice thrown at you gets even higher;)

Except that the "real balls" would only introduce real inconsistencies, and that is where competitive play really goes to die.
You think this issue is a clusterfrak? wait until someone coasts in to the next levels on any of those interactions from a regional where the to's allowed it while other big names got knocked out because they did take the list, or had to switch to a secondary list that ran poorly because it was ruled out. That will kill competitive play .**** it comes up from time to time now when a to does his own thing or has his own interpretation (mainly at store level) and cause a few pages of rabble rabble.

I just want to point out that the New Republic was founded on rebellion. But somehow Disney messed that up just like FFG messing up Trajectory Simulatory + Genius and of course everything about Harpoon Missiles.

Could you explain how some one "coasts in to the next level" or what the next level even is for that matter...? The vast majority of events you can simply register for and show up at. There is no pro tour, no promotions/relegations, no cash prizes. You want to play at nationals? Go to Gencon. You want to play at worlds? Enter the ticket lottery like everyone else. Winning a regionals gets you some swag, a bye, and a lot of pride that's about it
As long as the rules are consistent and consistently enforced at a given regionals then it has no effect on any other regional

However, I agree with AlexW here. TLT’s effect doesn’t finish until after all the dice are cancelled and a damage is applied. Then harpoon looks at the type of damage.
Well, apparently I had it backwards. Lol. (New FAQ and all)

Man. I’m really glad this didn’t happen or anything.

So, the weird thing is that I still don’t think either the TLT or the genius ruling is technically correct other than that they’ve said that’s the way it is.

Right. But I’m fine with it. Any way to get that mess out and make it official, concrete, and unarguable, even if it doesn’t quite make sense, is good by me.
I just hate when people hang things over others heads and treat them like trash or incompetent just because a decision went the way they perceived (which, by the way, STILL doesnt mean ruling against the combo working before this point was correct), even if it’s indirectly. Been seeing a bit of that since the FAQ dropped. We all just need to let it go and move on.

I'm not sure that's true. I think TLT is problematic for a variety of reasons both in terms of power and rules interactions and as a result likely needs a tweek. But I wouldn't be for banning it outright for a variety of reasons (nor is that what's being done here, both Genius and TS individually are still perfectly legal). I can't know for certain without said poll but I feel like the numbers wouldn't be anywhere close to 93% in favor as was the case here.
You're being mocked, and rightly so in my opinion, for placing the "virtue" of blind adherence to the rules over fun. Since the only reason for the existence of the rules and our communities shared agreement to follow them is for the purpose of fun that's backwards to put it mildly. When the rules get in the way of my fun then that's a problem with me, when the rules get the way of our fun then that's a problem with the rules and as such they should be adjusted. I don't expect you to understand that since you're clearly just one of those people to whom following the rules is an end in and of itself.
The point is that everyone needs to be able to play with each other without wild variations in rules. That isn't fun. House rules? Whatever, knock yourself out. For any competitive event, however, travelers (and this could even mean store to store in the same vicinity) need to know the conditions of play.
I don't think you're appreciating how difficult a position FFG put organizers and judges in.
You just won't find consensus once we delve into the realm of RAI and opinion (admittedly, Nymulator was close). I can appreciate your point of view (although my respect stops where you start mocking), but the problem is that FFG themselves have trained the game's officials to emphasize RAW. I will quote, "RAW is the best kind of correct." We now have a new situation where "Because I say so" takes precedent, which is fine since it's their game. Even the FAQ changes were rule by fiat, and not because of any meaningful rules clarification. I'm now good with BISS > RAW > RAI.
Moving forward, as an organizer/judge, I'm okay with any FFG Game Center ruling superceding us, but only because this now exists as a precedent.
