Alfa and omega

By D34d guru, in X-Wing Squad Lists

"Deathrain"(36) ["Deathrain"(26), Extra Munitions(2), Long Range Scanners(0), Bomblet Generator(3), Harpoon Missiles(4), Trajectory Simulator(1)]

Rho Squadron Veteran(32) [Rho Squadron Veteran(21), Cluster Missiles(4), Deadeye(1), Guidance Chips(0), Harpoon Missiles(4), Os-1 Arsenal Loadout(2)]

Rho Squadron Veteran(32) [Rho Squadron Veteran(21), Cluster Missiles(4), Deadeye(1), Guidance Chips(0), Harpoon Missiles(4), Os-1 Arsenal Loadout(2)]

The idea is to slowly move in for An alfa strike followed with a beta strike from the clusters.

Played the list and was able to deliver a huge ammount of damage in a 3 turn battle VS scum tlt and kimogila fliers..

I would drop the Clusters for PTL/Adv. SLAM on the Rhos, makes them far more consistent. I also like using Deathrain more as a Swiss Army Knife than a proper missile carrier, like so:

Unguided Rockets, Bomblet Generator, Trajectory Simulator, LWF. He can do a bit of everything.

I tried flying the PTL adv slam combo. Stress was a problem. It could be me lacking flying skills, but it felt like that 2 move didn't cut it because the enemy was shedloads more agile. I flew a slow flight, gave me time to aim, set and then give them a bomblet+3 harpoons, followed by another slow move with another bomblet and clusters.

I do like your punisher setup though. I'll give it a go in another flight.

The big thing about PTL Rhos is you don't rely on it - you use it when needed.

But yeah, I love that Punisher! Best of luck with it!
