Profundity Unboxing

Does Bail put the fun back into fleet ambush?

Now that Raddus exists, I'm pretty sure that Fleet Ambush is even worse as an objective than it was before (for the second player). I'd really rather not start the game with an LMC80 flanking my entire line, thanks.

As a Rebel player with a limited budget, I know it's thematic on an ISD (as shown in R1) but I wish they'd added the hardened bulkheads to the Profundity set as well. Would have helped out the MC80HO.

I get the feeling. But you can always slap Reinforced Blast Doors and get a similar effect. Well if your running the Assault Cruiser that is what I do.

Which will almost require early engineering tokens to repair shield damage even sooner than is currently normal.

And you can't out-repair that damage output against shields. It's a minimum of 4 damage any time it triggers, and that's if it does 1 crit and 2 accs. Only an Interdictor with a token can even hope to match that. I t's a 60-65 point ship absolutely stapled to my Imp builds now. In Jerry builds, I always have the thing equipped with Vet Gunners and con firing for maximum pain.

I love it when one or two solid upgrades turn a ship around like this.

As someone who had some mixed success with Raider-IIs in the current wave, I'm excited to hear this.

Did you get any playtesting in with Screed? I'm thinking a Screed fleet with an HIE Raider-II or two (that reads weird) plus Assault Concussion Missile Glads/Raider-Is/Kuats could get pretty nasty. Strips shields and then shreds hull and Screed lets you keep your Raider-IIs cheaper and doesn't mind the once-per-activation restriction on a crit that can only trigger once per activation anyways.

Been having the same thoughts. Having a hard time justifying the Kuat, though. Every time I try to build with it, I wonder why I'm not just spending the same amount of points (if not less) and getting that guaranteed BTA kill instead.

Because you favor originality and don't want to copy every one else ;)

ECM and Strat Adviser on the same ship is the primary reason.

I'm considering what a Kuat Avenger combined with a HIERaider might do. Those HIE shots would soften up a target significantly at long range, which could in turn allowed you to get away with only flipping 2 defense tokens with BT. You can afford to leave a redirect if there's significantly less shields to deal with. The extra dice from External Racks can further offset that. All theoretical mind you.

See if you are doing that, then why not Kuat, HIE, ACM, Fire Control teams? Dont worry about defence tokens, just batter them. (Vader applied liberally)

I am positively giddy with all of these people suddenly recommending Fire Control Teams....

Absolutely giddy. Its one of my favourites (along with Ion Cannon Batteries) taht no-one ever seemed to want to give the time of day... It makes me feel special ... :D

So you're saying go full Vader?

Kuat Refit (112 + 80)
+ Darth Vader (36)
+ Strategic Adviser (4)
+ Fire-Control Team (2)
+ Hardened Bulkheads (5)
+ Electronic Countermeasures (7)
+ Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)
+ Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
+ Devastator (10)

Because that looks oh so wrong in all the right ways.

It really does.

Swop in Pryce as Strategic Advisor is sitting on the cymoon to its side..... :D

Hot take:

Death Squadron (382/400)
=======================
Cymoon 1 Refit (112 + 82)
+ Darth Vader (36)
+ Strategic Adviser (4)
+ Gunnery Team (7)
+ Intensify Firepower! (6)
+ Hardened Bulkheads (5)
+ Quad Turbolaser Cannons (10)
+ Spinal Armament (9)
+ Avenger (5)
Kuat Refit (112 + 47)
+ Governor Pryce (7)
+ Fire-Control Team (2)
+ Hardened Bulkheads (5)
+ Electronic Countermeasures (7)
+ Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)
+ Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
+ Devastator (10)
Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 + 6)
+ Comms Net (2)
+ Suppressor (4)

I made this variant, not that it isnt flawed in so many ways :)

ISD Cymoon 1 Refit (112)
• Darth Vader (36)
• Strategic Adviser (4)
• Intensify Firepower! (6)
• Gunnery Team (7)
• Devastator (10)
= 175 Points

ISD Kuat Refit (112)
• Governor Pryce (7)
• Fire-Control Team (2)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
• Avenger (5)
= 149 Points

Gladiator I (56)
• Skilled First Officer (1)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
• Demolisher (10)
= 74 Points

Squadrons:
= 0 Points

Total Points: 398

Been waiting for W7 to drop before trying Vader, Devastator and Avenger.

Imo, Devastator is better on the Cymoon - with Spinals you could end up chucking 7R and 3B at long range, with CF and all rerollable.

Avenger I kept as an ISD 1 with BT but thinking of swapping for a Kuat and going all murderous!

Why buy one when you can have two for twice the price!

I already preordered 2 of each! ;)

What do you need double of from the chimera set? They actually did a decent job of duplicating most of the must have cards in each set i thought

Hardened bulkheads?

I own 5 ISDs, with the intent of recreating the battle of Endor. Honestly 2 is not enough, but it will do as a start.

I think I need a total of 22 ISDs, so I like to have options. Especially since I have to supply enough to run a mirror match.

lol talking about Death Squadron:

  • ISD1, Vader
  • ISD2, ECM
  • ISD2, ECM

(400 points)

This will be my first game after my Chimera pack arrives.

3 ISD hasn't been known to work. ECMs have been around for a while. I'd at least try SAD- Strategic Adviser and Pryce. Or GT.

And I thought I had plastic crack problems....

Man, I can't wait to barrel into enemy fleets with 6 shields on the nose of Aspiration. Probably with expanded launchers too.

Careful not to choke on your...Aspiration.

On every page of the thread, apparently :P

EDIT: my bad, it wasn't on this one... let me rephrase:
