Profundity Unboxing

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

Thanks for being patient everyone. I was up much too late last night trying to get everything put together. My buddy had come over for a regular game of Armada... and right as we were about to start there was a ring at my doorbell, with a package inside containing these ships. It was literally like Christmas in January and we were both blown away. My wife had to try to calm me down before I woke the kids up. Anyway, here it is:

BOW DOWN BEFORE THE POWER OF HEAVY IONS!

Looks neat!

Bail Organa (Unique Rebel Officer, 7 pts): Medium-Large only. Set a round, go 1st as 2nd player in that round! Potentiall HUGE, but note the "must" caveat.

I can see myself using this card*. BUT it will require practice to get right, as that "must" activate thing can backfire HORRIBLY.

* if I were to play a Rebel fleet that is.

General Draven (Unique Rebel Officer, 3 pts): The Rebel Kallus. Only vs Intel and COUNTER, not Uniques.

I can see this becoming a staple. Bc why not? esp with TF boosted AAA this guy could murder some TIEs.

Heavy Ion Emplacements (Ion, 9 pts): Crit effect. Drop 1 shield on target zone AND BOTH adjacent zones.

It looks AWESOME. Might make Raider-2s with DCaps and Vet Gunners/Screed a thing. Also A Kuat with FCT and Screed and ACM for the lols. But will it prove too costly?

Ordnance Pods (Ordnance Pods, 3 pts): Medium-Large only. It's NOT and Impetuous-style extra attack vs 1 squad with 1 black die. It's a whole VOLLEY vs. an entire fire arc's worth of squads!

Potentially a VERY nice boost, esp with Kallus/Draven and QBT. But do we have a nice medium/large with a vacant Ordnance slot!?

Aspiration (MC75 Title, 3 pt): Move shields from other zones to up to 2 zones. Max shield is 6.

**** yeah! FU BTA! FU a great many nay-sayers that said my defense tokens were bad. SHAME ON YOU!

How come you get them early by the way?

All i ever wanted for Sato was blue crits. Oh so happy.

Interdictors happy too.

FFG sent them to me. I think the fact that I've been covering Armada in depth on my channel for so long played a big part in it. It's not just something I cover, it's something I love.

Only Me playing with the idea of heavy ion emplacements with ACMs and Fire control team?

does asperation prevent you getting shields transfered from a different ship?

::twitch::

So, is Ordnance Pods an “attack” or an “attack”.

in My parlance, is it an “attack” or a “salvo”...

because “attack” has two equally significant and valid interpretations that I have been crusading against...

I'm pretty sure it's a salvo, or else it would have been worded like Impetuous.

Good catch!

When first reading I immediately though: "Impetuous".

But the wording is different. This is a "volley".

Huge.

“Salvo” is bloody good for the points...

Imagine clearing the field with an MC75 with those and Draven....

So much Sloane/Dengar hatevthete...

Or Kuat with Kallus and QBT. And EWS.

Because who needs squads... :D

I just wish it could've gone on a Raider, because trying a Kallus Impetuous Ordnance Pods Ordnance Experts Raider would've been fun.

Well, the MC75 can also pack QLT and Draven... So they are pretty even in that state...

i just personally think Dravens better than Kallus overall...

... god I hate Dengar so much...

This may be a knee-jerk reaction, but is Bail WAY better than Pryce? Seems like it at first glance, to me at least. Heavy Ions are very interesting, but I feel like 9 points will severely limit how often you'll see them.

Bail is "must". Pryce is "may".

Can you ruthless Strategist the accordance pod attack?

That was my initial impression too (well... WAY better is too strong, but "easier to use" was more my take), but @Truthiness mentioned that getting the timing right with Bail was paradoxically even harder than with Pryce and he found it was often better to just use the points on a bid and keep the officer slot open for someone else.

It's an attack, so yes.

Vic 1s I think will like ordnance pods. Their ordnance is typically empty and being able to help with flak a bit more is nice.

Got excited for heavy ion emplacements thinking “Finally something to make the interdictor relevant!” Then i saw the cost. Now my 100 point interdictor after after mandatory experimental retrofits is 110 points! Deep sigh... some day.... some day.

Huh? Pryce is "must" too. I guess placing the token in the first place is optional, but the same goes for Bail.

Heavy Ions seem super fun. I'm thinking CR90Bs with Toryn and Leia, or DCaps Raider IIs with Screed/Vader. Strip the shields from long/medium range, and follow up with something punchier.

Another note... if @Crabbok got the MC75... who got the Chimera? Checks mailbox...

He got BOTH.

Good point.

Not been reading carefully enough. Mixing the mays and the musts.
