Sovereign- Is this enough for Tarkin?

Tarkin now costs at least 152 points, and comes with a free star destroyer. Does his increased flexibility in handing out tokens bring him into line with other Admirals?

Is his new ‘cost’ too huge a limiting factor in fleet design?

Is the title good enough with him, or is it better by itself?

Tarkin is best on command 2 + ships that can benefit from multiple tokens. Arquitens love tokens in particular, with their nav primarily determined by speed, high for their size engineering, and reliance on red dice.

Could an ISD and three Arquitens with a Tarkin work as a more flexible Vader, or are more rerolls always the choice?

I don’t think so still too expensive, indeed more expensive to do something 42 points

depends on your build... was wanting to try Tarkin with an ISD-C anyway... this is just icing on the cake and means that I'm not wasting that 1 token a turn.

That's it really, he's 154 with a free ISD - that can't take a really juicy title.

So what goes into the rest of the list?

No doubt Sovereign makes him better. But competitive? Not so sure.

For the CC, however, this could be a thing.

The competitive test- does taking Motti and upgrades do a better job?

Answer here for ISD 3 Arqs- Yes.

The title by itself is ok but probly not worth it over avenger or Chimaera. I still reckon the title reducing tarkins cost by 10 would have been better.

Maybe they will errata him down.

Although Sovereign helps, I think Jyn Erso and the Mandalorian fighters are a bigger boost to Tarkin.

Doubt, Im closer to saying no.

Absolutely agree! I was thinking how much raid tokens will disturb the pace of the game for anyone on the receiving end, but Tarkin will be like "Get rid of those boarders with this token and keep doing what you're doing". Sovereign means he won't have to give everyone a specific token just to help a friendly raided ship.

Hmmm.... I still think raid is going to have far less of an impact on the game than people think.

As for Sovereign, I'm interested, but I don't think it'll be a huge boon to Tarkin. I agree it's the type of thing he needs but he's still so crazy expensive.

I'll absolutely try to make him work though!

Why would I run Tarkin when there's Thrawn or Sloane? ???

I actually think Tarkin/Sovereign is pretty interesting, and certainly I want to give it a shot. Command flexibility has real value.

Thrawn also gives you command flexibility, although I’d argue Tarkin/Sovreign is more reactive, as you get to decide how to take its benefits at the top of each turn vs setting the dials at the beginning of the game/your ship dials 2-3 turns in advance in some cases. It also makes you practically immune to raid, so thats nice.

Thrawn is going to see way more play, but I think theres something here.

Sovereign makes Wulff more interesting. Gives him a lot of flexibility as can be said to a lesser extent for Grint & Aresko.

Put Wulff on the Chimera and alongside sails a second ISD with the Sovereign title. Chimera can use lots of different fleet command upgrades during a game and get the token back each time. These can then be changed into a different token ready for next turn. It's like having 6 veteran captains on the same ship.

Well, I have my next CC fleet

ISD of choice/Tarkin

ISD of choice/Defense Liaison

ISD of choice/Defense Liaison

I think 400 Even if it is two ISD2 and a Cymoon (for eventual FC). Hooray for two ISDs that are Command 1
