Idea for an easy Leia fix

By DerBaer, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

The true problem with fixes, all fixes and not just leia, is that the current meta wants each figure to have 3 key feats:

1) Enough health or defense power to resist to at least 1 strike (1shot = not worth), and the difference between 2 hit and 3 hit death is absurdly high, so it's unacceptable to get the same health as the fugure cost;

2) Can deal at least 4 points of damage with a single strike, this was basically introduced with eWeequays;

3) lowest cost possible, strongly connected with points 1 and 2

Each card which doesn't possess one of these 3 features is actually not played (weiss, atst, sorin, kayn somos, Blaise, trandoshans, boba, leia and so on), no matter of how much potential it does truly have

Leia, assuming she is removed from the Errata, deals way more damage than that.

1 shot would be ~ 7 health (eQuay + Assassinate). Leia has 8. Not impossible to kill in 1 shot, but not the usual outcome either, especially with her defense (+1 Evade) and 3PO.

It may be true that she survives the first shot, but weequay work in pairs and it is highly unlikely that she survives the second shot if there is even one Hunter card in the mix or one or both of them are focused.

Dont you think we have enough accessory cards? As with all of these "fixes" they would have been better off making a new card or version of the figure like with Luke than having another double carded figure which erases certain rules and adds others. Frankly i hope they do something with Dengar because he wasalways unplayable. Leia is playable just not optimum. And there's boba

Nah, Leia is fine being unique version only, her card concept is nice indeed, but she needs to get her base stats improved that little bit enough to make her 8 points cost worth the investment (same with Dengar, 7 cost with 8 health - 1 figure only is totally useless).
Leia (and Boba i'd say) has the advantage that, unlike the other critique figures, she needs a minor, simplier tweak to become viable again. If you compare her to Weiss, RGC or Snowtroopers, things are very different.

Plus skirmish attachments for existing figures promote sales of existing stock and reprints using an already-existing manufacturing process (same die/3-D model for printer/whatever they use). Printing a card is really easy way to expand the game.

With some expensive single-figure deployments, I think trying to reach all 3 goals is necessary. Leia and most Rebel uniques need a balanced fix using all 3. AT-ST/Weiss do enough damage already but need to have lowered deployment costs, multiple attacks (Assault) and buffs to movement and/or defense. Boba could use an expansive rework OR the moderate rework that you started and I tweaked -- which definitely hits all 3 points.

It's hard to balance competitive functionality AND uniqueness with these fixes. I've definitely been leaning more towards the latter.

I think you're right. Therefore, it was my idea to remove Leia from the Errata instead of giving her an upgrade card ...

Same is true for Han, if you throw in a Heightened Reflexes or Element of Surprise. But Han actually is played ...
