Strategic Advisor

By The Jabbawookie, in Star Wars: Armada

Thanks @Crabbok for unboxing this!

“Large ship only. When it is your turn to activate you may exhaust this card to pass your turn (your opponent activates a ship instead.)”

Unique, though.

Obviously a huge buff for dual, even triple large lists.

So yeah. Thoughts?

Better for fleets with not QUITE enough activations rather than for what I would call a low activation fleet. Passing once per round is nice if you have one less activation than your opponent (think something like 4 activations). A dual ship fleet is likely to find itself out-activated by 2 or 3 ships. In that case, passing once isn't going to get you as much.

Fleets that are hopelessly out-activated would probably rather have Governor Pryce.

The big drawback is that it eats the coveted officer slot on a large ship.

It is an interesting choice.

It occupies the same slot and at the same cost as Lando, and 1 point cheaper than Wallex. Do I include her — I think it is a her? — in my 5-ship fleet to stay ahead of those 4-ship fleets that bring her and keep parity with the 5-ship fleets with her? If I face a 5-ship fleet without her, she's probably worth it. If I face a 4-ship fleet with or without her she's worth it.

With that in mind it kind of starts to feel like a 4-point (and 1 officer slot) tax on large ships.

No it isnt. Its a buff for large plus friends lists.

Pryce is the buff for triple isd lists.

I dont like strategic advisor. Why should someone get two activations from one mc80 compared to two activations from my two mc30s? Whats better about the two mc30s now?

More dice.

More shields.

More defense tokens.

More maneuverable.

More flexible.

I dunno... The fact that they’re two mc30s ?

Definitely. Supported by you rule.

AKA: "Exhibit A, proving FFG hates the Interdictor with the burning fire of ten thousands suns, never dying, and so searing with hatred the husk of its sworn enemy for all eternity"

I mean, good grief, the card is already unique . Would it have broken anything to let the Interdictor take it? You might actually see them on the tables, now and then!

I guess they just couldn’t quite print it small enough to fit...

But seriously, ISDictor is fun.

Welcome to the Flotilla at 4 points era. Or how to make an ISD 19 points cheaper.

Large ship only - arrrgggghhhh! For a minute i had dreams of running this with the interdictor title......

I dunno, that they're probably the most cost effective ship in the game in terms of offense and defense? Gee wiz. Its as if people still think everyone else thinks the mc30 is some under-used trash. Its of the most overly used, annoyingly effective ships in the entire game.

I think you're all missing the most important part of this card.... Clone Wars Era art. It's Plo Koon!

Its nice. When do i get my Venators, Acclimators, CIS lucrehulks, CIS providence class destroyers.

Jedi Eta 2s, Jedi starfighters, anakin's blue starfighter, naboo fighters, Vwings Arcs, Droid fighters, Belbulab bombers, Tri fighters, buzz droids.

is this card even good? if everyone takes it then no difference. could this be an elaborate troll by FFG? That alien certainly looks trollish to me.

How come? You know, Kel Dor is just a species, it does not have to be Plo Koon, same way as not all Rodians are Greedo (though they might be greedy - sorry, bad pun) and not all Gungans are Jar Jar (thankfully).

The one on the art does not even have the usual Plo Koon get-up (neither Jedi robes nor his Clone Wars armor).

Its "Lage ship only." So you can't take it, when running a MSU-list. That's the difference.

LOL this can easily be explained by the fact that other mediums, like the space whale, would also take it. That means a boost to space whale+msu lists, and the 2+3(and possibly other archetypes but I can't rmb). Lowering the bar to mediums would weaken the edge that this card is supposed to provide to large bases

As a note, the cheapest base that can run this now is the star cruiser.(ideas for lists? :) )

(another issue is that interdictor title makes S.A. very worth it on the int)

I feel you, but opening it up to mediums would have opened it up to Gallant Haven.

That's a bit of a clunky mechanic. Trust me, I feel you guys. I think it would have been really good for the Interdictor. Alas it was not to be.

Think positive: Maybe FFG will bring a second Interdictor title card with a matching effect in the next Campaign Box. ;)

I managed to squeeze him into my bombardment fleet.
