What is your thinking about the upgrades on the flotilla? With a moderate to small fighter build, spending points on delivering 2 not very hard hitting, slow fighters to an area where they will be toned down by the jamming field doesn't make sense.

I would spend the points from the upgrades on Shara in place of an A-wing and maybe Tycho in place of the other, or one of the YT-1300s if you don't want to eat into the bid too much. Jamming field will hamper the counter(1) of the escorts and counter(2) (or 3 for Shara) on the A-wings.

The idea is that the 1300s are meat shields. Forcing every shot to be instructed against something with 7HP makes them last a long time

The idea is that the 1300's speed to the squad ball in the flotilla, engage them and slowly die. I don't even need them to shoot, just last 2-3 turns. The Awings are there to engage first and slow the approach.

This build has no hope of getting the best of any fighter/bomber wing, but it ties up a lot more than it's 50pts.

Well said. In practice, this actually works quite well.

What do you do about Intel and them just flying right by your shield?

Good point. I don't see a lot of Intel in fast Sloane type fighter balls, but bombers with Intel I just hope to outrun

See that's a drawback of playing against the same guy and being somewhere that there really isn't much of a community. We always bring Intel with our squad balls... well almost always... because we don't want to get tied up. So when I plan a defense I'm always planning on seeing it. Plus with a large number of squads I almost always bring Jan for her braces. It's really hard not to.

I love Jan. Wish she was one point less though.
