How will the Ghost crew will be released?

By steveisbig, in Star Wars: Legion

FFG, like many of us, really likes the Rebels TV show and has added the Ghost crew to everything Star Wars.

How are they going to do that in Legion? Will it be Special Forces? Commander and Corps troopers with Hera/Kanan as leader/commander?

I'm excited to get them on the table (and painted!) but I'm not quite sure how they'll do it.

What do you think?

(Also yes, I'm sure Sabine will have bombs)

I wouldn’t be surprised if they left that to imperial assault but I can also see them doing them as a commander but I feel we will get original trilogy stuff before that. (I personally would love to see Rex).

Hera is more of a squadron commander, not really a ground forces commander. Kanan usually isn't in a leadership role as far as the military is concerned in the show. If/when they are added as miniatures to the game (and not as thematic upgrade cards like General Weiss), it would definitely be under the Special Forces rank of the rebel army. I figure their use as a unit would be versatility, what with Sabine throwing explosives around, Zeb with his melee/ranged dual weapon, Hera with a high leadership value, and both Kanan and Ezra with a force power upgrade and a high melee value with their lightsabers. How FFG would articulate these differences on their card, well that would be a challenge, but the options are there.

Maybe a Ghost Crew unit, with unique upgrades (ie, the individual members) so you can pick and choose what crew you want.

Hera I could see as a pilot upgrade like Wedge, or a commander as she does tend to lead the Specters on missions.

I agree that the Special Forces slot makes sense for single model units, but so could Sabine being a Specialist upgrade without a "Trooper only" tag. Heck, they could have Hera/Kanan as a single model unique Special forces unit with multiple Specialist upgrade slots, and the rest of the crew be Specialists that do not have a restriction of "Specter Squad Upgrade Only" giving you the option of fielding the entire crew as a single unit, or spreading the crew out to various squads in your force.

Well they could include a Lasat with one of the expansions that you could paint as Zeb. Same for Chopper if/when they add in driods. I bet you would see Sabine as a specialist though assuming she/they survive.

Pricey af special forces unit with a list of keywords to equal a commander.

Just because a character doesn't survive doesn't mean they can't be released. IA has a bunch of expansions for character that died in canon.

Edit: Plus I'd be very surprised if character from Rogue One don't get a release.

Very true sir. Also, being as how they mention Scarif in the news articles I REALLY can't imagine not bring in some people from Rouge One.

I hope all the crews or teams are released as single sku box sets.

So I want them to be a special forces unit or something like that.

i hate individual characters as products. so much overhead in packaging and it bloats the line making everything harder to stock.

With the possibility I noted, I envision them being released as a single box, but not restricted to being added to just the included unit.

Of course, they are likely to be individual packs, as then FFG can make more money, which is fair, they are a corporation.

I have honestly always expected Hera to be released as a Commander, with the others acting as individual Special Forces units, or as all of them acting as a large and powerful Special Forces unit.

I hope they are included as either one big special forces unit, or two smaller ones as they would often split into two teams with different objectives

As I mentioned earlier, the current design of the trooper/specialist card says to me that there is the possibility of having upgrades for these slots that are not restricted to a single unit. I think named characters would be the most likely cards to fill that space.

I really hope they embrace the Rebels tv show for this game. I love the old Ralph McQuarrie art style! I would really like to see AT-DPs, Imperial Troop Transports, Those heavy cargo speeder bikes... Now I want to go watch Rebels...

I would like to think that they are deployed and activated like a unit but are not governed by a need to be in cohesion with the squad leader. I also liked the idea of having a core 2 or 3 being deployed with the rest being "upgrades" to the squad. Allows for the like of Sabine, Ezra and Rex able to be upgrades for other units or all added to the same Spectre squad.

Imperial Assault Hera has a cool 'after deployment' ability allows you and adjacent friendly's to move one space after deployment. , I suppose it's to represent the flexible and adaptive approach they have. So my first thought was after deployment abilities. I want some flexibility in how I deploy them, even just being able to split a full Spectre Unit into 2 groups after deployment (one must be Hera Led, and the second Kanan led?), and Kanan group gets a free speed one move after being split up. These guys love splitting up and doing different things.

So thinking Hera as a command unit with say 4 or 5 Specialist slots, and the option to add on other Spectres to beef up her hp, act as bodyguards, and allow her to act more like a Special forces/commander Hybrid.

So if Spectres are all specialists, add Hera to a Trooper unit to make it a Commander unit as well. Add Kanan to a unit to give them extra defence. Add Ezra to give them Surge = Crit conversion, and a better melee. Sabine gives it bombs ofcourse

I'm sure whatever FFG do with them, if they do at all, it will be awesome

Please don't add Hera FFG!!! She would only one headshot everything across all ranges with her broken, overpowered Blurrg (probably even with improved salvo and explosive shot)! ?

My only question with having them all as a single unit is weapons and abilities. They are all such unique characters, how do you reflect that? Does each one of them have their own weapon / dice / range? Could be really tricky to do correctly. I'd almost prefer a situation where they all are unique units, but you get certain bonuses if they are in range of each other. Which would be super neat, similar to what @Sk3tch is talking about.

What if non-commander Hero characters, such as Chewbacca or any of the Ghost crew were able to replace troop leaders. So instead of 4 stormtroopers, you'd get an Inquisitor and 3 troopers. The new hero leader would play the same but have more powerful abilities and weapons.

I would put them in 2 units, with Kanan and Ezra in one squad with an upgrade slot for one of the others and a droid slot for chopper, and Hera and Rex in the other squad with an upgrade slot for one of the others and a droid slot for chopper. If they release droids as the same upgrade as regular troopers then each would get 2 upgrades instead of one normal and one droid.

Something like that could be cool. Could be a cool way of adding in characters without filling all of your special slots up. and just subtle changes to how the unit works as a whole. Maybe they can add a Leader trait or something so its not all Unique characters by default.

I really like this idea. Also makes so you buy the base model, and then you can opt to buy the upgrades or not.

I'd advocate for Kanan and Ezra and Hera and Chopper as the two squads though. Zeb, Sabine, and Rex as the optional upgrades (sold separately).

that would be more thematic, I put Rex and Hera because they primarily use the same weapons, and that is how cards are set up so far, with the weapon dice being multiplied by the models in the unit.

I hope they don’t include stuff from the rebels show. The cartoony ‘kids’ artstyle in that series is imho quite annoying and won’t fit the realistic nature of the Legion models. They’d have to translate their look into one that fits Legion. Plus I don’t like the series overall with all the Jedi popping up constantly.

I'm afraid you are in the minority there ;). Don't worry though they will translate them into a style that makes sense. See hera and chopper in IA and all of the character's art in Destiny/lcg
