Solo A Star Wars Story (Spoilers Ahead)

By splad, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

The trailer feels too much like a trailer for a Marvel movie. Hopefully that's just the trailer and not the movie itself; fingers crossed.

Man, I really want to be excited for this movie, and I'm just not. I hope it surprises me.

Having watched the new trailers for Solo, it is definitely becoming apparent that these chronicle films are basically an RPG module

Rogue One was an Age of Rebellion one shot with pregens

Solo is Edge of the Empire with a GMPC to set things up (Woody Harrillson)

Obi-wan will be Force and Destiny small party game.

Whereas the Force awakens felt like a beginner game, and The Last Jedi the downloadable continuation adventure (as in better in every ways as it introduces new rules, but hamstrung by the story of the beginner game)

You and me both. Though many fans rallied around The Last Jedi i was sorely disappointed. This movie is free of the burden of progressing the saga so maybe, hopefully it can bring back the joy.

Maybe it's just me, but I kind of got a Firefly-esque vibe off of the teaser.

Which given how much I enjoyed that show (once I could actually sit down and watch it), I don't see that as necessarily being a bad thing.

To be honest, I had no horse in the race as I'm not a fan of the Han Solo character, and dreaded how the gossip was painting the directors to force the film into being a comedy, but after the teaser trailer I'm now cautiously optimistic about this film.

Me too. In everything you just said.

I think the weird vibe was generated by the funky score. im holding reservation til the real score is added. John Williams is doing the main theme

Looking at the trailers, I think the movie is set at least 5-10 years before ANH. I think closer to 10

First, the falcon is CLEAN. SPOTLESS. Its going to take some time for hans neglect of her to yellow all that white that much. and loose all those panels on her hull.

The actor is clearly younger than Ford was (27ish), and he seems much less jaded and at ease in his own self (so young adult still finding his way)

In ANH Solo boasts about the Falcons noteriety and the Kessel run. Indicating she has been in other antics that apprently cause some level of (in)famy thorughout the galaxy or at least the outer rim

Lando clearly needs some time to get over his loss of the falcon, then build up his capitol to aquire Cloud City.

Chewie needs to develop a relationship with Han (and the Falcon) to reach the familiar rapore we see in ANH

Actually, thinking about it..... This movie should be called "Falcon". thats the real origin story everyone cares about

Qi'ra, first of her name, liberator of wookiees, wearer of the low cut dress, bearer of the alcohol.

Seriously, I think she's fine, but she's so ingrained in my brain as her Character from GoT it'll take a while to forget it.

Their was allot of speculation of Boba Fett being in the movie. Anyone heard any conformation of that?

You would think she might not be able to throw off GOT, but I have found a lot people do not really recongize her when she isn't blond. Of course, I do hope this is a better outing for her than Terminator Gynesis (I dont care if I spelled it wrong).

I can 'imagine' her alot.....

Return? First appearance for an Army "Trooper" (dis-including the Army ATST drivers and Army General). :)

Let's hope so since it would end the debate that started with the release of WEG Star Wars.

Dammit now I'm going to be the same. I wish you wouldn't have said anything since I'm apparently superficial and didn't recognize her at first with the brunette hair.

I actually found her Sarah Conner quite good and badass,

Yeah, she's a perfectly good actress, I hope stuff like this helps her avoid being typecast (though honestly I'm afraid it'll make it worse considering how female action stars get typecast as such so easily.)

Also soooooooooo looking forward to the stupid memes...

Remember the time Chewbacca ordered Daenerys Targaryen a drink at Cheers and Woody spilled it on the floor?

I really liked her as Sarah Conner. She was the best part of that film.

Mother of Krayt Dragons.

A very generous interview by Ron Howard on why he took over the Solo movie. Which counterpoints the staff and production crews sigh of relief when he came aboard which was reported by many sources also how pissed Lawrence Kasdan was about the deviation on the script.

Wonder if we get Bothans in this one...?
