World Cup Battle Reports

@Tokra beat up upon a poor little defenseless hedgehog and won 352 to 60. He played a very good game and forced me into some stupid decisions. Great game and very good opponent.

Tokra defeated @themightyhedgehog , somewhat with >400 to 60. We did not count in the end. But i lost nothing. The 60 points are 4 victory tokens. In exchange all but the CR90 and one transport died, and i had 6 victory tokens.
Themightyhedgehog was first player and chose Fire Lanes.

here is the Log from the match. I started a bit late (somewhere turn 1 during the second activation).
First activation was Adar transport for grapping tokens. Second activation was ISD for a kill on Jan Ors (she was right behind the YT1300 on the right). Lucky shot from Saber in first turn really sealed the squadron game.

In the end we called it after turn 4, when the MC75 died to the ISD in an massive overkill. With only one badly damaged CR90 and the Tallon Transport left, there was chance to take down the ISD.

It was a really nice match. And i knew that the Fire Lanes would really badly backfire for me. But taking second player was by far the better choice. No one want to face such a token moving machine as first player :P .

JJs (1st Player) vs BrobaFett

204-191 (MoV 13) win for JJs Juggernaut

Objective: Capture the VIP

Wow, what a game. I need to get a drink to relax after that one, because it was a hard fought intensely close game. I use Raddus and the Hammerhead to steal the VIP turn 2, but it meant the MC-75 was on the table taking shots all game. I was able to hunt down the quasar, but the squads were relentless and when I failed to kill Jendon, they ended up bringing the MC-75 down at the end of turn 6 (technically it was demo, but the squads were why the MC-75 couldn't escape). Luckily, with Admo hunting down one more Gozanti, the points swung to me at the very end. A fell fought battle, and a good game to BrobaFett. I look forward to next time!

Thanks JJ for being a good opponent to play a tense game against.

The HH stealing the token and killing the gozanti giving you first last at the top of turn 2 combo was a hole I fought tooth and mother-*******-nail to get out of, and I knew going in I would need to keep the flotillas alive if I wanted to win. Which is tough when you have first last, and a speed 4 ship kitted to one shot flotillas.

End of the day, this was an elimination round, and I had determined that I would play for a 20pt win from the start and got a 13pt loss because a Gozanti I didn't expect to lose died turn 2.

Great game, and wish you all the best in the next rounds.

@Roquax defeats @Dupy

Dupy was first player and selected Station Assault

@Roquax brought his 2+3 gallant haven bomber mix to the table. He has honed a fine edge to this fleet.

His addition of the vcx and Corran Horn make this fleet a whole different animal than the fleet of @GhostofNobodyInParticular . I couldn't just go second, because Adar talon and Horn would have destroyed my squads from afar. Or brought the double tap last first action from yavaris. I choose His Station assault hoping to snipe a station from range and scoot.

Both Glads jumped out at speed 3 to get into red range of the right most station. Demo with a C.F. dial throwing 3 reds turn one. Following up the next turn with more station fire and a planned slow down and some hard turns to skirt red range until the Station died. Unfortunately, I misplaced my Demo at the start, having him a little too close to the Station right off the bat. This had him drift too close to Roquax's creeping squads.

I miss played my squads, throwing away my primary interceptors too early. Uselessly killing a bee wing. So, I figured I had to go for the all out assault. I jumped my ships back up to speed to throw down black dice. This led to Roquax tabling me in one turn. Demo, missed placing Haven in black range, so he killed the Station with reds, and my poor maneuvering then finished off a wounded demo by a Dodonna assisted asteroid barrage before his demo shot. His Gallant haven activated and killed Ozzel's raider and rammed my flotilla to death. Insideous was able to double arc GF, but it lived. Then his squads mercilessly picked apart the remainder of my squads and Insideous.

@Roquax played a great game. His addition of station assault to his objectives is an awesome way to control the pace and place of battle. A red throwing fleet, however, should be able to pick the stations off and draw out his squads away from GH.

Thank you for the game, and good luck moving forward.

Tokra defeated Aresius, 337 to 82.
Tokra was First Player and chose Precision Strike.

The Log is here

It was a really interesting match. I tried to delay the fight against the MC80 as long as i could, to win the squadron fight. But it came different. I could take out one transport really early because he rammed it, and Stele was able to turn the damage card. It was a structure. Two times a hit from Stele was to much. After this i had to go in and kill the transports, that were all suddenly in the front of the ISD.
This really exposed my squadron fight, and delayed it. It sacrificed Mauler in this mess to buy some time. And lost Saber because i parked a bit bad.

In the end i lost one Gozanti, Mauler and Saber squadron. And was able to take out 4 Transports and all squadrons.

GK defeats Tokra (concession 4)

I was first player and picked his Fire Lanes.

More details to follow.

The details in shot: If you have a plan, stick to it  . do not change it.
I lost in the first round when i placed my ISD in a bad position :D .

I might have lost even when i placed it different. But this way i lost faster.

More blood to the Vader god.

First: Fire Lanes was the only doable objective for me. MW would just mean the ISD got focused down and LOSS for me. SP...ok, next question.

Tokra split his tokens max separation, and I dragged them as close as could be managed.

I divided my fleet into 3 parts, one for each token. Not something I want to do, but I was forced to, or I'd auto-lose on pts.

ISD+rep team in the middle, 2 goz to one side, goz + demo on the other (as far from his squads as possible - Demo doesn't like Maarek-Jendon - and where I was thinking his ISD might set up).

Tokra set up his ISD facing my Devastator, which was a little surprising, but I figured he wanted to take down my ISD.

But instead he went on to remove my activation padding, which would make sense if the ISD was far away, but not when they started shooting r3.

It did not help that Tokra rolled IIRC zero accs before Sloane died (but quite a few after), and a measly 3 damage + 2 accs out the front of his ISD (close range) on the 1 shot it managed.

My first volley was good, 6 red and 3 blue doing acc + 9 damage. It didn't matter that the 2nd shot the round after was poor. The Sloane died. But even had both rolls been average, not hard with Vader + IF!, the ISD would have died. Without the ECM it cannot survive at medium-close range a last-first by Devastator.

We called it end of r4, when it was impossible for Tokra to kill the ISD or anything more than 1 more flotilla (3 total), while I was ahead in pts and a lot of fire lanes tokens.

After the game Tokra told me that his plan was to NOT engage the ISD head on, but that's what he ended up doing :D

I made two serious mistakes.
First was to place the ISD head to head. This was not planned, i wanted to place mine as far away as possible (no idea what made me place it there).
The second mistake was NOT to go full on the ISD (after i already placed it in a stupid position). The Squadrons and one attack from the Avenger might have been enough to exchange our ISDs. Giving me a bonus, because mine is cheaper. But instead i was playing around with the Gozanti. And it took way to long to bring them down when you are only rolling crits and hits (even with Stele).

In the end GKs ISD was able to double shot my ISD (end of turn, start of turn). And even without the extra dice from the Devestator it was just to much with the X17 and rerolls. While his ISD was not really damaged at all. My only attack on medium range was 3 acc, 3 blanks.

But this match was not decided by the dice. it was purely stupid playing :D .

more than one warship, no relay (ok, no squads, but counts ?), whats not to like?

Grats, GK!

Wow, what a game! @Roquax came super close to blocking that MC75 drop with squadrons, which would have shifted the game signficantly. One or two squadrons placed slightly further to the right and JJ wouldn't have been able to position Profundity far enough out to get the Hammerhead hitting Yav 's side arc, which keeps Yav alive for a turn to double-tap Ten into the A-wings and bombers into Profundity ... big swing right there. Great game!

The range was crazy big to get to Yav with the Hammerhead. I guess there's going to be a bit of a learning curve for Profundity and Raddus!

JJs vs Green Knight (1st Player)

194-182 (MoV 12) win for JJs Juggernaut

Objective: Most Wanted

What a nail biter! I was able to drop Raddus in the save Admo and kill demo, but it cost me the Mc-75 in return. We traded flotillas after that, but there was nothing more we could do to each other after we passed by. I don't have a logfile, but someone else might. There is also a stream recorded by Ginkapo that should be on youtube? Thanks to GK for the tense game!

Decided 13 MOV was too big of a margin and had to trim some fat and get it to 12 eh JJ? :D Congrats again.
