Should I give up and read spoilers or keep trying to wait for video release?

By ViscerothSWG, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Long story short, I lost my job just before Xmas and movies aren't in the budget at this point.

I'm basically avoiding these forums now to avoid spoilers as best I can but want to re-engage while I search for a new job.

Through disturbing internet spoilers I know Kylo goes shirtless and Luke milks a thing, but I've thus far avoided everything plot related.

So should I read a plot synopsis and get it over with, or keep averting my eyes until it arrives on video?

(Any job seeking tips? Been a while since I had to do this, and the wedding is in 10 months.)

I would try to avoid spoilers, there is a lot that is unexpected in the movie and it would be a shame to not be introduced to and experience in the movie.

You are correct, however, that those are not in any way major plot points!

I feel ya, really. Best tip is to avoid forums and any time wasting on the internet and use 9-5 Monday through Friday for the job search. Go to an employment agency or career center at a community college and try to get a new job. Word of warning it isn't going to be a career you would like and often not doesn't pay enough for what you have to go through but if it covers your bills and gives you an extra it is good enough. If it doesn't then avoid it but try to reduce your monthly expenses as much as possible.

Also when you get your first weekend that is not in absolute poverty then just go to a theater as by now the price will be reduced and it would be at the cheaper theaters. You will feel better with that relaxation to handle your new job, trust me on it. A spoiler free word of advice (but if you consider spoilers then I'm sorry) but when you get to the scene that looks like it is from the prequels you can use that as a bathroom break. You won't miss anything of importance.

Sorry to hear that, friend! I am afraid that I don't really have much to offer in terms of job-searching, having only had the odd minimum-wage part-time job, other than that a good LinkedIn profile goes a long way. But I can help you with the Star Wars opinions!

Long story short, I'd wait and watch it! Invite a few friends over (if you have any who haven't seen it), make some popcorn and snacks, maybe have a little movie-watching party. This movie is worth it.

I'm going to try to keep this a spoiler-free zone, but I will talk a little about what I thought of it (using very vague terminology). No plot spoilers here, but maybe tiny, tiny spoilers about the tone of the movie (just saying that to be safe, please sign here to indicate that you've read and agree to the liability waiver). These are also just my opinions, your mileage may vary.

Rey has become one of my favorite Star Wars characters ever. She is that combination of powerful yet feminine, and truly believable, which has become rare in female action movie leads. Kylo Ren might be the deepest and most nuanced on-screen Star Wars villain ever (granted, not saying that much, as only Vader has any character development to speak of, until now). There's plenty of awesome lightsaber, blaster, speeder, and starship combat. There's a ton of humor and interesting little sideplots (something that a lot of people criticize, I for one liked this stuff). Luke and Leia each have several powerful scenes. There's several characters you know nothing about going in who quickly become very important and interesting. Chewbacca (always one of my favorite characters) has a few really badass scenes. The background characters, costumes, scenery, and weird ugly aliens are impeccable as usual.

I for one loved it. All my friends loved it too. We're all super Star Wars nerds who liked the old canon a lot. It's definitely a divisive movie, but I'm not sure that's warranted. It's just another Star Wars movie, and if it weren't for the current political climate, I doubt many people would honestly be saying it's the worst Star Wars movie ever.

Every person I've talked to gave it somewhere between a 6/10 and a 10/10, and I've talked to just about everyone I know about it, people between the ages of 8 and 80, of many races and genders, of many political parties (both of the major ones here in the USA and plenty of the other ones).

Besides, in the end, Star Wars is like pizza. Even if you don't really like it and think it may well be among the worst pizzas you've ever eaten, it's still pretty dang good.

spoiler box, just to be safe.

You should just give up on TLJ and watch the Original trilogy again. :D

I wouldn't go reading spoilers. It would ruin the funniest moment in the series. (Ok actually there are several)

Or you could go over to the dark side and pirate it. (what? Disney has enough money as it is, and as long as you buy it when it comes out your pirate sins shall be forgiven.)

I hope you find a job you like soon. MTFBWY.

See if you can get someone to treat you? It's probably the quickest way to ensure you get to partake in the fun.

I know I, for one, was floored to discover that Snoke was actually Chewbacca, and that Lumpy had become Rey after some species-reassignment surgery. (Still holding out for The Star Wars Holiday Special 2).

If nothing else we at least got a good meme out of TLJ.
