Noob-ish and need advice for store tournament

By Vae_Victus, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been playing a few months and have about 5 days of playing under my belt. I'm hoping for advice on a build....

“Redline” TIE Punisher, Unique (40 points)
You may maintain 2 target locks on the same ship. When you acquire a target lock, you may acquire a second lock on that ship.
PS7, Trajectory Simulator (1), Extra Munitions (2), Plasma Torpedoes (3), Harpoon Missiles (4), Bomblet Generator (3) , Long Range Scanners (0)
Colonel Vessery TIE Defender, Unique (36 points)
When attacking, immediately after you roll attack dice, you may acquire a target lock on the defender if it already has a red target lock token.
PS6, Jamming Beam (1), A Score to Settle (0), TIE/D (0)
Nu Squadron Pilot Alpha-class Star Wing (24 points)
PS2, Harpoon Missiles (4), Advanced SLAM (2)
I'm thinking the Punisher and Alpha give some synergy to Vessery and that the "Score to Settle" helps the harpoons, at least with one ship. I'm thinking the jammer and target lock should also help increase the odds for at crit.....
Your thoughts are very welcome and please don't hold back.....my opponents haven't.....

Interesting...interesting...

For starters, welcome to the game, friend!

So, let's start with Redline. Generally speaking, Harpoons are the best missiles in the game these days. Generally speaking. And they made Redline redundant. For such an expensive build, you don't want redundancy. However, Punishers, given that they can carry Bomblets and TS, can be really cool. I like a generic, or Deathrain if you have the points, with TS, Bomblets, LWF, and either Harpoons/EM if you want a stronger punch or (my preferred option) Unguided Rockets for a more consistent punch.

On to Vessery! You have picked a wise Pilot, with a wise title. Your EPT is decent, though I would much rather you scrounge up the points for Expertise. The Canon, meanwhile, leaves something to be desired. Ion Cannon is probably the strongest, but Tractor Beam is probably the best on a budget.

So, supposing you take some of that advise, you could have this:

Deathrain

LWF

Bomblets

Unguided Rockets

Trajectory Simulator

Vessery

Expertise

Tractor Beam

TIE/D

Omega Leader

Juke

Comm Relay

Omega is one of the strongest cheap ships in the game, and her desire to maintain a Target Lock feeds Vessery's ability very well. Deathrain is what I like to call a swiss army knife - they can do whatever you need, filling in the space with tremendous and reliable versatility.
