Perhaps the answer to Nymranda and Imp Alpha Strike is right in front of us

I think you're better off with double engine? But yeah, it might work.

Again, I'll note to everyone - it's not about beating just miranda nym...

I agree, in a meta with reload, ability to have 3+ ships with ordinance, Countermeasures isn’t as good as Engine. Countermeasures cancels one lock, however, Engine can get you out of multiple arcs and into range 1 more often.

I was thinking brobots with ion and flechette cannons could be a good counter too. They're fast (for range control) and can shut down bombs/slam. Auothrusters on 3 green dice with evade isn't bad against TLT. Advanced sensors/PTL can give them good action economy (with C in the list). Sounds good on paper but I think the PS6 and front arc only may hurt more than I'm thinking right now.

EDIT: I'm referring to Nym/Miranda specifically here. Imperial Alpha will be a tough matchup.

You can either go ion and flechette or ion and tractor beam. The tractor beam has less to do with lowering the agility and throwing them on rocks, but rather to speed up your opponent towards the edge of the board.

The only problem with dual IG-88 is that they can suffer a lot when facing some of the big hitters out there and PS6 can be a pain. Still, it might warrant a look into.

@Cloaker, I only own one Shadowcaster, what build would you recommend I run?

As a fairly skilled Brobots player with a love for AdvSensors, I actually like PS 6. It allows me to be extremely unpredictable in my final positioning when the board is clear in front of me for a pre-S-Loop boost. Give me Brobots at PS 3 and 2 or 3 points back on each, and I would love it so much.

I have used the same types of IG-88 for over a year, but I would rather that they made linked battery "not" small ship only. Now that would open up a whole lot of options.

You could put Expert Handling on the casters and run EU , as long as you don't run into stress you can strip the lock. Instead of 5 Straight you can do 4 Straight green + BR + gain 1 stress + remove 1 lock.

When you look at the dials, abilities and costing of the Jumpmaster and Shadowcaster, you realize just how conservative the design space was on the Firespray. The Xwing got a 1 point droid that added a boost/BR at the end of a move under certain conditions. Imagine a Slave II title for the Firespray for 1 or 2 points that added a boost action on it's action bar. Think about a Firespray now that for the same price of adding an engine upgrade, you can now toss on autothrusters or countermeasures and still get access to a boost.

The thought of a PS10 Boba with both Autothruster and Boost makes me happy. I've been trying to toy with a Dual Firespray build but just can't get there with the points. 8 points in EU's...which are a requirement with bombs & poons takes away from the ability to up your damage output with you own missiles + GC.

I just recently started messing around with duel Shadow Casters because its a col ship I never see around here, and i'm liking it quite a bit.

I once ran Ketsu with expert handling, experimental interface and inspiring recruit ( to handle the double stress). There were some giggle worthy moments, but doing constant green and barrel rolling with asteroids in your path is not always easy. Still, it was funny.

I have successfully run twin scum Firesprays with K4 and Harpoons, because, well, you know...The trick with Firesprays is not to head on front forward in engagement. Choose a slight angle for each to keep opponent guessing. These two here, they do some hurt.
