So my mom was just talking about how badly she wants to go to Minnesota, and I suggested the weekend of February 3rd. To my surprise, she went for it and is now looking at flights! So it looks like I will be able to take Saturday to push around these awesome spaceships with you awesome people!

Who all is planning on going? Any tips/pointers from locals on navigating to the venue? I called FFG HQ and they said there is no preregistration and to just show up, is there any fear of a player cap?

The FF Games Center is near Rosedale Mall on County Road B2. Pretty easy to get to as I35 and MN Highway 36 get you pretty close.

As for registration limitation, I expect there won’t be a problem. I believe the registration cap is 64. Plenty of space in the cavernous gaming room in the back.

I'll be there as well. Parking can be a pain, and with the Superbowl occuring that weekend traffic should be hectic.

The event, per the FB post, is uncapped. Their tournament hall is enormous.

Oh ****, I forgot that the Super Bowl is being held there this year.... is travel/getting around going to be insane? Is the stadium hopefully on the other side of the city? Is there even anywhere to stay? Lol

I'm unsure how travel will be, early Saturday will be fine i think, good luck finding accommodations though, maybe look on the Eastern side of town?

Thanks for the tips! Hopefully we can find a hotel before people know who will be playing and all the traveling teams buy tickets and need hotels

You're going to have to find a spot wayyy out of town. I've got coworkers 30 minutes from the stadium that have had their extra rooms booked on AirBNB for the Superbowl three months ago.

So we found a nice Airbnb in town and have already purchased our flights so it looks official!

There is always the Red Roof murder hotel around the corner from the game center. I'm sure it has a room or two that recently got their door rammed in by Swat they could throw a padlock on haha.

(true story, that was the room I stayed in at worlds last year)

I mean you can always help bring the cost down by asking the SWAT guys to split the room cost with you, at the very least.

Also the more people detained for drug-smuggling in their raider-swarms means the better chance I make top 24.

I stayed for the 2016 Worlds at the Key Inn, and slept in a literal Murder Bed, as in the mattress / box-spring was found to be stained with blood when we went to check it for bed bugs.

So I’m packing up my fleet(s) when I realized that I only have one spinal armament, but one of ya potential lists requires two of them... does anyone have a spare that I could borrow that day?

I'm sure someone will, just show up and ask around.

I'm a bit wary about loaning out more cards as I've already promised quite a few to people and it's more cognitive load on top of playing that much Armada in the first place, but if push comes to shove and not a soul has Spinals, I've got you.

I’ve started taking pictures of the person and cards I lend them. At the end of the tournament, I go through those photos and make sure I got all those things back from the person. It’s the only way to be sure.

Key Inn definitely isn't the best. It's one of those motels in that area that is tempting when looking for places online because it's cheaper, but if you'd have been driving around looking for a place instead you'd have said, "Nope. Next."

The Radisson, basically across the street and therefore a touch closer to FFG, is fine though. I'll also add that the Indian restaurant across the street from Key Inn is pretty good. My son and I eat there once or twice per month.

Not that I expect a lot of out-of-towners for the Regionals, but just as a food for thought when World's happen later this year.
