BM-1FL - Light Freighter

By dinobaldi, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

I have a new 3D printer with a huge volume (50 x 50 x 60 cm),

but before start to print something really epic, I check the parameters with a medium ship.

I found this really detailed model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2753104 and so I decide to try it !

I hope you like !

I know nothing about 3D printing except that I like it.

Good work @dinobaldi !

I have really poor experience with painting,

so I 3D-print a lot of ships to do some exercise.

I like especially ships that are not available at the moment:

The original Lambda is only for comparison:

But I prefer the Epic ones:

.... and here's my favorite, with some original Scum ships for the size:

and the last but not the least:

In these months I fine tuned a lot of parameter to try to remove line marks and rough ....

but there's a lot of work to do: if you put my 3D printed ships side by site to the originals, they appear really poor !

Hi it’s nice!!

Indeed I was thinking of making frames of the ships with 3D printers and then applying the details with milliput green stuff.

Normaly I use to make Xwing ships with milliput green stuff, plasticard, acetonitrile sheets and soft wood...

yo can see them here on several topics published here.

Here are some examples:

the C70

The Hammerhead corvette

the CIS Seathipede

the YT 1000

The star conmutter 2000

The starlight cruiser

Then I make model cast of the original kit (the one I made with this scratch built technic...)

I think with the 3D printing most of the work can be eased and once you had made the details, made cast of it...

At the moment I do not have a 3D printer... ...but it’s time to think about acquiring one...

Well done!!!

Is possible or available those frames?

Can be easily ,ade by myself or are those prepared files just to be printed?

Well done!!!

I'm a great fan of your models !!!!

Most of the my experiments are based on free files on thingiverse:

https://www.thingiverse.com/comPVter/makes

it's easy add details at a model with a cad.

Getting started I suggest www.tinkercad.com

It's free and easy.

But a mixed technique could be a great idea, because you will cover lines marks !

Augh! The Suprosa from Shadows. :D Madd Props!
