no big deal but just to let everyone know that while Huge Ships are only allowed in Epic play they are not Epic Ships as you don't need them to play a game of Epic. Although Huge Ships do have an Epic Point cost. A Huge ship does not make an Epic game. (They are still awesome to see on the table in a game though).
PSA: Epic is Format, Huge Ships are a Type.

I play Epic nearly all the time. I play with Huge ships 1/10th of the time. I'm all with ya, Marinealver!
I love my huge ships, so I will fly as many as I can fit into a list whilst still having small ships to play with too. This is why I tend not to have amy large ones...
All I know is when I put my huge ships down on the table it is sooo EPIC!!!

Who says Huge ships are only allowed in Epic play? You can use them in Cinematic Play campaigns as well.
These bloody Epic Play authorities, don't know the scales, don't know the rules...

Don’t forget about HotAC! The GR75 graces us with its presence in some missions.
"Epic Ships" can refer to a ship that is epic in size, or epic for other reasons. Huge ships can likewise refer to ships like the Ghost, which are larger than the GR-75 model. Nobody has any doubt when either "epic" or "huge" is the adjective, so why care about it?

****, I've had fun messing around with the GR-75 in 100/7! Rules schmules.

PTL/Kyle Super-Dash with a Comms Booster GR-75 felt wicked busted the one time I flew it. Granted, it was against an arc-based list, but still.

technically, though many groups require a huge ship per a player in epic. this common house rule is because the balance of games heavily favors large numbers of small ships over a huge ship points wise, so one player not taking a huge ship is kinda unsporting. its all about fun though, so if all players involved like the scenario do it up!!!

...aaaand now it's an official rule.
As for me, I haven't found it to be unbalanced for one player to have no huge ship. I guess I just expect to face just small and large ships when I include a huge ship in my squad, and plan accordingly.
Thank you ffg for making epic ships needed in epic
I will say this: if they insist on requiring huge ships for Epic, they bet release more ships for each faction. Obviously Scum needs something more because I don't want every battle against scum to have the same ship. But we still need more variety, maybe even some ships with 1 epic point, just to make tournaments less monotonous.
On the bright side, the titles and mods can make each huge ship fly in several different roles. So it will be cool, for example to face a missile Raider, then a close-range stress Raider, and finally a recovering Varaider.
Oh wait - only to the Harpoon Raider will be competitive. Grumble.

In all fairness I don't think full harpoon raider is the only competitive option.
1) harpoon on the bow is very strong because your support fighters shouldn't be right in front of your nose. But rear mounted harpoons threaten your own support fighters. Also the ones catching your flank are more likely to be dodgy and use evades. so homing is a straight up better option there unless you don't support your raider.
2) jamming. I fly 8 gunboats, with the 4 of any weapon limit it has pushed me to pack 4 jammer cannons in my list. Realizing that 4pts added to a list can shut down a missile raider for 2 turns was what sold it for me.
And this is from someone who can't shut up about how amazingly fun and great the missile raider is. It's not unbeatable, and jamming/scrambler can ruin its day the way ion ruins a laser raider.
Edited by Dabirdisdaword@Dabirdisdaword , excellent insights. Thank you for sharing.

Having been crushed by a pure TIE list in Team Epic at the European Championships last year, I for one welcome our new Epic ship overlords.
(and let's face it, a bare-bones Vector build with four Crack Squadron Pilots probably won't break the build)

That's fair.

Well I do have the house rule for a scum crossover for the GR-75 if you want some variety. Then again I don't know how the two captains would work with the C-Roc as there is no restrictions from going to other Huge ships (which is why I declared the kits retirement when the C-roc came out).

Earlier on the main forums I posted a topic seeing if huge ships should have been a requirement and the general consensus is a no because it would exclude other players (granted Scum didn't have a huge ship at the time). But when I brought up after a huge ship there was only a few that converted to maybe. I have come to agree with the no camp as well.
But this is FFG's game and OP and I can see why as there is a huge ship for all factions now. At least they don't try to do the matching dial faction even though with the dial upgrade kit it wouldn't be as unreasonable as it was in Wave 6.
