Through a wholly unforeseeable set of circumstances that totally did not involve me derping the initial joust hard, I had to dramatically adjust my plan on the fly. Fortunately my opponent wasn't confident about pushing hard enough and breaking formation, so I was able to religiously abuse Flight Assist Astromechs to swing around the debris and K-Turn before he could catch me. The turn after the pic, I got a much better joust position and managed to recover from that god awful mistake. Miranda got torn down in 2 turns before she could run (he was banking heavily on being able to use selflessness, but Jess Pava landed 3 crits and he never got the chance). From there on, Fenn Rau and Lowhhrick didn't have the damage output to dig themselves out.

This was interesting, because I would've been far worse off without FAAs on Wes and Jess and the Advanced Optics on Poe free up his action for boosts. Rewind this game 1 wave, and think that positioning error on turn 3 would've been fatal. I'm also not 100% sure my initial plan was sound. That hardcore derping on positioning may have actually saved me. I always find it's easy to break down defeats, but hard to truly break down a victory. From what I've seen of this match (did 3 iterations of this fight that day) if I can survive the joust without serious damage, the X-Wings have vastly outperformed Miranda and crew offensively to a pretty severe extent. Even without Pava's heroics, I'm still confident I had the positioning to seal the deal on Miranda with Poe and Wes, it just would've left Fenn Rau in better shape.
Definitely going to be reflecting on this game when looking at how this squad approaches the enemy in the future as was a good learning experience.
