Batman's First Order Garage - Opinions

By JasonCole, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been running this a bit lately and have had decent luck with it. Opinions and feedback are welcome. Taking it to a Q kit store tournament today.

SILENCE!

100 points

PILOTS

Kylo Ren [First Order Vanguard, Push the Limit, Advanced Sensors, Advanced Optics, Autothrusters] (47)

Major Stridan [Fire-Control System, Rebel Captive, Gunner, Pattern Analyzer, Targeting Synchronizer, Kylo Ren's Shuttle, Engine Upgrade] (53)

I'm comfortable flying two ship Imperial lists. It seems to hit pretty hard and the two ships synergize well, with Stridan helping Kylo get even more actions, which is what the silencer really needs, and when it doesn't, being able to hard turn then boost before taking a stress is pretty effective for either bugging out and being able to bring a big slow ship back in, or for slow rolling to keep blocking.

Personally, I would slim down Stridan a bit to fit in a third ship. I think 53 points is too much to sink into an Upsilon. It can still be effective to support Kylo and another. Perhaps a Striker or something in that point range. Otherwise it will certainly be targeted first and taken off the board quickly for over half your list.

Or put some more of your expenditure on Stridan into making him tougher and let him be the first target. A combination rebel captive & sensor jammer, for example, is something the Expertise crowd hate, and countermeasures is a point cheaper than engine upgrade.

At the same time, if that layout lets you keep stridan's guns on target, go with it.

Thanks to both for the replies. I was worried about Stridan being a bit points heavy also, but never could find a way to shave enough off of him and kylo and keep them effective in their roles enough to fit a third ship that would be effective. In the end, the 47/53 split ended up being advantageous, as Kylo was a great point fortress for end game. As it was, I went 3-1, with my one loss being a (suspect) loss of Kylo in the last 7 minutes while running for an MOV win by flying him off the board. So my only loss was to myself :/ I lost Stridan once (that first game) then he never dropped below 1/2 HP for the remaining 3 games. I won game 2 100-0 (Scum Salad), won game 3 50-0 ( I killed 2 mangler gunboats worth 25 points each, his kylo and my list danced for 20 minutes trying to get shots), and won game 4 100-0 (PS11s Wedge, Rau, Poe).

You could totally trim enough points for a very small third ship!
