Metal Dice?

By LordBritish, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

This seems like a silly question but would there be any metal dice in this game or Genesisy future? I recently received metal D6 and the weight of them has me craving the heavy dice.

None that I've seen, but I suppose you could have them 3D printed yourself. There's a possibility we'll see Genesys dice, as I'm guessing the licensing is a little more pliable than Star Wars.

For me the idea of metal dice is better than the reality. They are so heavy that when I roll them on almost any surface, it scares the bejeezus out of everyone, so I have not used them much. :/

I bought some magnetic metal dice on KS (Snap Dice) that should be coming this month. I'M SO EXCITED! :-D and a little bummed it won't work for this very well... :-( (yes I know about the table for using regular dice, no I don't consider it realistic to use that on any regular basis)

That's true. I might have to look into that eventually, just I don't own a 3D printer and I'm not sure any would be bold enough to print them.

I personally love the fear that I see on peoples faces when my metal dice make a impact on their souls. XD In all seriousness though, it was one of two reasons I got a play mat. That and we have had a serious problem with knocking dice off the table, so hopefully it will end some good.

Hmmm. One idea might be to attach little bits of metal with logos printed on them, unless thats not how magnetic dice work?

I could swear I've seen plans floating around Shapeways before, but it's been a while. It would not be cheap but they can in fact print metal.

Thanks for the idea! but the dice are ferrous, not magnetic.

I could pass on some files, if folks were interested.

Even in plastic, Shapeways was HELLA expensive, though.

Yes, any files would be greatly appreciated!

I'm more then happy to at least consider trying it. I've kinda got a hobby in which I want to collect metal dice once every month/other month. It would make sense to actually collect some I use regularly. XD

Does anyone still have the model files? I have access to a 3D printer and would like to see how they turn out.
