Kylo with Gunboats

By nj3478, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have been trying to create a list with Kylo assisted by two gunboats.

So far this is what I have come down to, and will bring it out during my next casual meet up. I am trying to maximize Kylo's actions, as well as giving one of the gunboats the ability to reload and SLAM back into the action. Any ideas how I can optimize the list. Thanks!

Kylo Ren (TIE Silencer) — TIE Silencer 35
Intensity 2
Fire-Control System 2
Advanced Optics 2
Autothrusters 2
First Order Vanguard 2
Ship Total: 45
Rho Squadron Veteran — Alpha-class Star Wing 21
Deadeye 1
Harpoon Missiles 4
Guidance Chips 0
Os-1 Arsenal Loadout 2
Ship Total: 28
Rho Squadron Veteran — Alpha-class Star Wing 21
Deadeye 1
Harpoon Missiles 4
Guidance Chips 0
Ship Total: 26

Advanced Optics and Intensity are kind contradicting each other...

Not really, he can assing evade this way when he needs it.

I'm not really a fan of Intensity here. It can be used to get a big burst of tokens (Focus and Evade on a turn when you boost or barrel roll--and only if you Boost/BR... if you're in a better position without it, you can't grab the Intensity Evade), but then it's got a long recovery time. Maybe that's fine; get your full stack on the turn you fight, then fly away and recharge AdvO and Intensity later. It's just not really something I'm a huge fan of. I don't think Kylo is strong enough at escaping that it makes up for lackluster turns when you can't use Intensity. If it doesn't immediately click for you on the table, perhaps it's just not as good.

Personally, I'd try Push the Limit (Kylo's got a lot of green) or more likely just VI. There are enough 9s and 10s out there where it might be better to just move after them. And with AdvO and FCS taking care of your tokens, a single action will often be enough.

Gunboats are fairly standard. I might consider Extra Munitions instead of the title, but that's probably a "six of one, half dozen of the other" sort of thing. Not necessarily better or worse, just different.

If you want the "budget" Kylo with FCS/Adv. Optics, I'd use VI.

That gives you room for OS-1 on the other Rho.

Though, you could downgrade to Canon Nus

Sorry for the string of posts. Just realized, you might want to ditch deadeye and use the lock, so that you can fire repeatedly, never spending the lock, allowing you to reload and shoot as you need. Honestly, I think those Rhos are gonna be challenged to pull off consistent shots. I like them with PTL/Adv. SLAM, but you don't have the points.
