Just wanted to throw this out because felt its really weird.

Why does trajectory simulator come only in the Resistance Bomber? When they could not even launch their bombs into the target and had to slowly roll into danger and all die?

Why don't you just put your exact spoilers into the post rather than the title? It's barely any effort for you and some weird person might want to wait for the DVD release.

And it's just a cool upgrade that happened to fit into the expansion (note how it isn't resistance bomber only).

Because FFG needs you to buy that ugly big ship from an awful movie.

Because it's literally the only ship from that wave that could potentially use it. They wanted to introduce it as an element to reveal bombs and this was the only new release where it made sense to include it.

because it's one of the parts of tlj they want you to switch your brain off for.

If the racking works magnetically ( as has been displayed in cut aways to defend "no gravity" arguments ) all they had to do was align the bomb bays with the target and add moar power(trajectory sim!!!) Ofc you could then argue about stray magnetic bombs and the dangers of missing .... but meh

The point why the bombers needed to get into position so close was about hitting a weak spot of the dreadnought. The resistance has the complete plans to the first order fleet, size, locations, etc, they just got that moments ago, but they already use this for Poe's plan to blow the thing up. It was a on the fly plan and it did not work rather well … but that was the point about flying a few miles over the target to hit a specific spot with the bombs. Launching the bombs from further away was not a good option in that case.

Which other wave12/13 should have included it in your opinion, @Muelmuel ?

And that is one of the major problems of BOTH TFA and TLJ. Maxime for movies is "show, don't tell" esp. "don't tell in accompanying books only". Just show it somewhere, why they use so stupid tactics. Same for TFA, why the heck do they attack Starkiller base with medium snub-fighters only (no heavy attack fighters like B-wings or Arcs, no dedicated torp-ships or bombers anywhere, militarily thus makes no sense at all).

Well, the point is why is it on a not so appropriate ship, but if they wanted to release this for the game itself it can appear in any wave any time, not necessarily 12/13

...because the Resistance is not a military. They are a guerrial tactic group that operates under the radar of a galaxy that has been burned, literally, by having a standing army and state police. They are few and scattered, now down to just a dozen.

It’s only in the Resustance bomber because it’s a new card. They just created it. And why does it matter? Why does intensity only come on the TIE Aggresor? Why does cool hand only come with the T-70? Why does bomblet generator only come with the Scurgg? All of these cards can be used across all factions. There is no answer. There also is no conspiracy or plot. It’s just the way it is.

I would agree with that, if TLJ had not this giant target area on the dreadnought and all bombers aiming for that. Sure, some secondary source is telling is exactly WHY the rebels know about this weak spot, but the movie does show clearly THAT they are aiming for a weakness.

...maybe they did. Trajectory simulator allows you to fire one bomb forwards at a time - but that wouldn't be enough to take down the Dreadnaught. The bomber dropped all of it's ordnance - it's entire payload, hundreds of bombs directly onto the Dreadnaught at the same time.

Just because it dropped it's wad to take down a capital ship doesn't mean it's not also capable of launching single projectiles from long range.

Because TIE Bomber, Scurgg and other bombers were printed before it was designed.

All the above reason are totally true. But I think it is fair to point out that Star Wars does not let game designers have a sneak peak of their movies just so they can write better rules for the ships showing up in that movie.

It's pretty clear that the studio just gives FFG some lose descriptors and they like the rest of us have to wait for the movie to come out to see what is really going on. A great example of this was Poe originally coming out are PS8. PS8 is a really good pilot in this game. But if anyone on screen deserved to be PS9 it was definitely Poe. And so we needed to get a new Poe release in his black ship to make him PS9.

This was less of a problem for Rogue One because the U-wing and Tie Striker's actual capabilities weren't that integral to the plot. But I believe that if the Rogue One movie had been able to be a true source material for that release, we would have gotten a Blue Squadron x-wing, and possibly some sort of door gunner upgrade. Man I love that door gunner. My U-wing wouldn't suck if he just had a door gunner. Not to mention some sort of double crew upgrade strike team.

The short answer is because no other ship in the wave would have made sense to include it.

The longer answer (and the questions behind the question) is they put it there in order to sell a $40 expansion that really doesn’t bring anything else terribly exciting to the game. Some folks have managed to use Crimson Specialist but overall I am failing to see it as a viable ship when Nym or Miranda does the same job much better. Both of which were already pretty powerful. So, that now moves into a new question — why did they feel the mechanic was a good idea at all? I’m not sure that it was, and that they may have made that mechanic exactly for the express purpose of selling a ship that would otherwise not have a lot of sales.

Im trying to steer clear of the TLJ discussion as a whole and keeping it straight on the miniatures.

The Resistance Bomber is a fail for both FFG and LFL. Trajectory Simulator? That fail is completely on FFG’s part. Nevermind the ships don’t really launch bombs; Trajetory Simulator is more bomb-wing. It doesn’t matter what expansion it came from, it’s bad for the game.
