As there are droids in X-wing, is there a place for droids in Armada? How would we use them, and what could they do?

Hopefully they show up in CIS ships and wage open war on the imperials and rebels

They could potentially add upgrade cards that include iconic droids like R2D2/C3PO, or else generic droid teams, in the future. But astromechs for squadrons as upgrades? not likely

Note that medical team shows a droid doctor

I am pretty surprised we havent seen R2D2, C3P0 or Chewie (not a droid but I figured I should throw him in) appear as any kind of upgrade but two random Calamari and the chick from hoth all get to be powerful cards.

Having IG88 made me wonder why no C3PO/R2D2 and hence this topic.

I always thought R2 would make a good Support Team upgrade that could boost shields. Perhaps he could increase one shield when the ship deploys, with no maximum? Doesn't increase the maximum value of shields, so once it goes down it can't be Engineered back up.

C-3PO: When a friendly ship is dealt a face-up damage card, read its text aloud in an alarmed Anthony Daniels voice. Then, say: "We'll be destroyed for sure!" Then, you may shuffle it back into the damage deck and draw a new face-up card.

"Ex-cuse me, sir! Oh my! Your hull zone with the most remaining shields loses all of its shields! If multiple are tied, choose between the tied hull zones, then flip this card face down! We'll be destroyed for sure!"

this for C3PO actually sounds thematic. Also redrawing a face-up can be useful if you really don't like a particular crit, and can try your luck fishing for something less painful(though most are painful). Or even try to fish a crew faceup for medical team to discard away, etc.

Else, another one: When you would suffer a critical effect, exhaust/discard this card to choose another possible critical effect for this attack. Can be very strong if the attack did not reach hull, since the default crit can be applied instead(w/o any damage cards actually being delivered).

Maybe this is where Imperials will finally get a droid of their own.

K2-SO: (officer, 2 points)

You gain relay 1.

(Actually not the first of his model to appear in Armada, though. )

What would a couple of individual droids do though? The ones you mentioned are officers aren't they? Makes sense they'd have more of an identifiable impact at capital ship and fleet level than a single droid.

So with Adar Tallon and Yavaris too, that can potentially be a quadruple tap squad...

You could drop R2 and C3po in as a support team. Toryn is an officer and the cals are a wep team

I think with any chopper upgrade there has to be a cost so

It would need to be limited to friendly squads in that case. Or at least limit the damage aspect to friendly squads.
