D'Qar and the Dakar rally. Coincidence? Or...? (Minor spoilers)

So... The Bolivians right now are either loving or despising the Dakar rally as it passes through the country. Despising, due to the environmetal damage it does.

I know the planet's name is Crait where the scenes were filmed in the Bolivian salt plains, but they just left D'qar...

Lucas was bad enough in the prequels (EDIT: for toy pushing everything), but is this subliminal messages from the director? The ground "bleeds" red as they speed over it. Originally I thought it may be srponsored and ironic, but now I think he's trying to say something about the damage done.

Or it's just a coincidence...

The Dakar Rally ends in Dakar, Senegal. Which is in an entirely different continent than Bolivia.

Not sure there is much environmental impact in a rally going over mostly desert.

Amazing, everything you just wrote is wrong.

The Rally IS in South America https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Dakar_Rally

Driving over desert DOES cause damage to sensitive habitats http://www.wildearthguardians.org/site/PageServer?pagename=priorities_wild_places_ORV_reform#.WlfeLZM-eRs

and I will NOT be the Last Jedi!

Wow... I had no idea they moved it to South America 8 years ago.
