Hey everyone,

My brother and I have recently gotten into Armada, and we love it! However, we quickly noticed that during each round we would get to a point every so often when we would have questions about a certain rule. Play would be halted and we would search the rules book or scour the forums. That leads me to this topic. Aside from loving Star Wars and this game, I'm also a web developer and I do a lot messing around with the Google Assistant. I want to build an addon (or an Action as Google calls it) for the Google Assistant to be used while playing Armada that can be summoned to ask rules questions, or even just fun little commands that add to the game. It could be playing sound effects here and there, or answers to frequently asked questions during the game. Either way, I want community feedback on what would be most useful for this project. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Rules. Attack order. Status of the game. Roll dice. Turn count. Keep track of ships and damage and defense tokens. Make pew pew sounds. Bring up lists or builder apps.

Cool idea! I could see a logic flow like:

1) Search the latest FAQ posted here .
2) If no likely answers there, search the Rules Reference Guide in the same place.
3) If it doesn't find a likely answer there, search the Rules Subforum here .

Cool idea, it could even use Google Home / Alexa

@Blail Blerg Those are great ideas I definitely want to look at. A few of them I thought about like the sound effects but I didn’t think about keeping track of the game. I like that! And I don’t see why someone couldn’t build a table with some kind of holographic tech...Hmmmmm

@Ardaedhel That seems like the best flow to me too. May take a while implement the ability to search the FAQ on the fly and spit out an answer, but that’s definitely my end goal. For starters I’ll probably end up with canned responses based on what is generally accepted by most players.

@Wax Maniacal Funny you mention that because I’m actually building it with the Google Home in mind as the main platform. The cool thing about the Google Assistant is once I build the Action it’ll work on any Google Assistant whether it’s the smartphone app or the Google Home.

As for Alexa, I know nothing of how it works or programming for that, but once I have it working on Google I’d love to expand it to other AIs.

I was thinking, id like to carry only my models and tokens and templates and stuff. Make all the cards and tracking digital. Victory points. This way it saves a huge amount of set up time and lugging issues.

And dice probability. Next time I don't wanna hear bs from my opponent about how insanely good my dice rolls were.

Just have the app message @Drasnighta , then read the response out loud. You're cool with getting spammed with rules questions from all of Matt's users at all hours of the day and night, right Dras?

For an appropriate subscription rate.... sure.
