So I have been playing around with the idea of getting a third Gunboat to run a 100 point list with Soontir.

3x Nu's w/Long Range Scanners and Harpoon Missiles (22 points each)

Soontir Fel w/Push the Limit, Royal Guard Title, Autothrusters and Targeting Computer (34 points)

I know the Nu's are a good build but is Soontir a good complement to them?

QD over Soontir by a mile. Soontir just dies to one set of bad green dice against any set of harpoons.

The downside of Harpoons would be Soontir’s downfall. Whereas, QuickDraw gets a benefit.

Only if you're dumb. Its easier for Soontir to avoid being in range 1 of a harpooned ship than pretty much any other ship in the game.

However, Quickdraw is in fact better than Soontir in this list by a mile, as said above. It plays totally to his strengths.

Having said that, I think Soontir pairs well with gunboats in general. They are all ships that like to hit + run. So I'd definitely consider throwing him in there 'for fun'. Not even just for fun. I think its a solid list, overall. But if you want to go win a big tournament, you take Quickdraw.

Sure, but it means Soontir can't get range 1 to finish off any of the ships that have the condition. I'm not saying Soontir can't avoid it, but at least QuickDraw can get in there and rough it up and not care as much.
