Ok im new to all this FFG roleplaying stuff, I bought Dragonholt for Xmas but wont get chance to play it for a while yet.
This new Realms of Terrinnoth, is it the same system?
Dragonholt imo looks a bit basic.

Same world. Different rules
The Realms of Terrinoth is a setting book for the Genesys RPG and Dragonholt is a board game.
Realms of Terrinoth is a fantasy setting for the role-playing game Genesys.
Legacy of Dragonholt is not really a role-playing game, but rather a chose-your-own-adventure style of product.
Both, Realms of Terrinoth and Legacy of Dragonholt take place in the same world as Runebound and Descent, called Terrinoth. But Legacy is not the same system as Genesys (or the setting book Realms of Terrinoth).
Thanks all, I had just found the Genesys section on the FFG pages.
To clarify further, would I need the Genesys core rulebook/box to get the new Realms of Terrinoth and play it?
Thanks again.
Yes, you would. Realms of Terrinoth will contain supplemental rules to better enable a fantasy setting, but will not be a complete rulebook all by itself.
You could probably just get the PDF of the Genesys core book to save a few dollars, but you will also need to get at least one pack of the Genesys dice as well.
All addictions... I mean hobbies cost money. My problem is telling me I have to wait 6 months to get my fix...

Or the dice rolling app, which is $5 for as many dice as you'll ever need. I say this after spending $30 on two sets of dice on release day...
It did occur to me that Legacy of Dragonholt wouldn't be hard to adapt into a campaign for Genesys, especially using Realms of Terrinoth. I've enjoyed playing through solo (on Day 7 now) but also wonder if it wouldn't be as fun in a group, given how much reading there is and how simply encounters are handled. (I could be wrong about that, of course. I haven't tried it yet.) Either way, I think my own game group--which plays Descent the most--would have more fun with it using the Genesys rules. Instead of discovering a piece of information or winning combat just by possessing certain skills, you'd have to pass the appropriate skill checks with die rolls. Dragonholt itself--meaning just the village--is full of history, reoccurring NPCs, and built-in consequences to choices, to say nothing of the six quests you can uncover. Add in Descent minis for combat encounters to combine three Runebound games in one!

OR the web-page dice roller found on the master resources list, which is also compatible with Hangouts chat. My friends and I played through an Edge of the Empire Campaign by putting it on a TV we have in our game room, which worked out rather well, as the NDS kind of does away with a few sacred cows of other RPGs, like everyone having their own dice, or the GM vs. Players Mentality. Although I did decide that physical dice was necessary for me for Genesys, so I bought the official stuff.
There's also the "Blank-sided Chessex Dice and a marker" method, which, according to amazon, will put you down for $20, and you'll end up with a complete set of 5 of each dice you'll need for the game. Though the quality of the design is dependent on how artistic you or your friend is.
