Oh, heck yeah, I love this guy's work! The patience and skill this artist has is amazing. I wish I had a tenth of that in my work.
He does an amazing job with ship models. I don’t always like the changes he makes to older ships, but they are always very detailed and crisp.

I can understand some of your dislike with the changes, but speaking as a very amateur CG model maker myself, I think we all (regardless of skill) kinda take some artistic license of a sort when we build models, especially ones as complex and detailed as Imperial Star Destroyer.
Primary likely reason: We don't always have access to really good photos of the practical models themselves. That is something I would love to have, and have Googled till my eyeballs pop out to try and find some HQ photos of the original models. A lot of times, speaking strictly for myself, the best I can do is photograph my own miniatures, use the best possible screencaps from the films, extrapolate from there, roll the dice, dance the Watusi, mutter a prayer in Pig Latin and hope for the best.
